Today = glass. The transparency and layered colours in lampwork create the link between these and the rest of my creative practice. Plus playing with fire is FUN!!

This is one of my figurative ceramic works. Nigra clay fired to 1250 degrees, glazed with a high matt glaze.

Second in my series of posts about work in my current group exhibition, ‘Conflence’.
Hands communicate non verbally. They can confirm ir contradict words that are being said.
There are so many examples of them being used within cultures. From handprints on stoneage walls to the Hamsa hand, with many in between.
Here I’ve cast them in bronze. I’m so pleased with them.
They are combined with lampwork beads to make a necklace.

I have an exhibition on at the Tote Gallery in Ōtaki during August.
I’ll be posting regularly to share more information about the 20 pieces that are on show.
These works are the start of what will become a much larger body of work (to be shown during the Kapiti Arts Trail).

My group exhibition, “Confluence” opens at the Tote Gallery at Otaki Pottery Club next week. It’s a group show with Vaune Mason and Sarah Bromley. We’ve been bringing together a variety of materials and techniques in response to the world we see around us.
It opens at 5.30pm on 6th August.
Do come along if you are in the vicinity.
Mild panic is setting in, which will transition to the full blown variety during the next 7 days …

I’ve been drawing this man for the last two days. As I draw he becomes more and more familiar - but I don’t know whose likeness it is. Isn’t that strange. He’ll be in my group exhibition ‘Confluence’, with the lovely Vaune Mason and Sarah Bromley at the Tote Gallery in Ōtaki in August.

So this drawing is finally ready to be framed. It has waited a while to be finished. I have no excuse. Just distracted by other creative projects. So many ideas, so little time 🤪
