Life of A Box. Art Exhibition by Hesham Malik

Early in December 2025 we received an unexpected invite through our email to be part of an offshore exhibition. Hesham Malik approached us to be involved with his ‘Life Of A Box’ Exhibition. He had found us because of our focus on sustainability and recycling and thought we were a good match for the project.
I quote the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój, one of the many venues the Exhibition has toured to. “The exhibition titled “Life of a Box” aligns seamlessly with the museum’s mission, demonstrating that art can embody not only beauty but also responsibility. It serves as a platform for contemplation and discussion regarding environmental protection, sustainable development, climate change, and biodiversity.
Artist Hesham Malik embraces the sustainability trend and is actively involved in shaping its future direction. The unique initiative, “Life of a Box,” which he established in 2000, offers a transformative perspective on the upcycling of recyclable materials through an educational art project.
Hesham proposes that art can take an alternative route – one that not only reduces environmental harm but also fosters cultural transformation. In the context of the “Life of a Box” exhibition, discarded cartons – which may appear to be worthless waste – are converted into distinctive pieces of art. The artist demonstrates that recycling can not only diminish waste, safeguard natural resources, and lower greenhouse gas emissions, but it can also serve as a source of inspiration and convey significant artistic messages.
He is recognized for addressing social and spiritual issues, and his endeavours frequently fulfil charitable and educational objectives. Continued in comments Hesham Malik

Heidi uses Iron mordants and natural dyes to create the realisations of her creative imagination. Describing her process as ‘play’ Heidi is able to reach into her inner self and draw from there her wonderful, often graphic expressions. These works are journeys Heidi invites you to come on with her. If you stand with them and allow your imagination to ‘play’ Heidi’s works are maps into new places.

Heidi is our Artist in Residence until 21st Sept. She is in the gallery during opening hours so please come in, meet her, go on a guided journey with her and her works.

Gallery Gatherings are always fantastic. Our gallery is intimate but flexible so seeing how the exhibitions use the space and how visitors engage with the works is a constant changing delight. Heidi works primarily on a large scale. Her exhibition includes a large cloud-like suspended work - a stunning first for us. Loving the way it appears and modifies the space. For those of you who missed Sunday’s Gathering….

Blue Wind Dragon. Heidi Monks

This piece was envisioned in a meditation, it was very clear to me, and I tried to capture it in a drawing, as a reminder. My internal image has remained steady and as it transformed from my vision to physical reality it took on a life of its own. It always has been Blue Wind Dragon.
