THROUGH THE YEARS: THE SONGS THAT SHAPED US
With some people lining up to watch it for a second time because they enjoyed it so much, there are only four more chances to experience the spectacular musical journey that’s been 70 years in the making, at the Waitaki District Council’s Ōamaru Opera House.
MTO (Musical Theatre Oamaru) takes you on a journey through the decades - Through the Years: The Songs That Shaped Us - as a celebration of the company’s 70 years of entertaining our community.
A Waitaki District Council Opera House team member said she was so impressed by the talent of many of the children performing and believes it just goes to show that Waitaki’s got some good talent coming through.
She added that the show has been very popular, with tickets selling like crazy - today in particular. And while there are still some good seats available, we are down to the last days of the season – tonight, Thursday and Friday nights at 7.30pm, with the last night on Saturday, 15 August, starting at 5pm.

Thanks to The Brydone Hotel for accomodating us on Sunday evening when we gathered for a post-show meal 🍽️

And two nights off we’ll back into it for our final four performances from Wednesday night. Word is out that this is a pretty cool show and tickets are selling fast now so don’t dilly-dally - book now!

Along with putting on the first three performances of our 70th Anniversary production, we also celebrated that milestone with a small reunion ahead of last night’s show. It was a special gathering, with lots of laughs and memories shared from shows gone by. Thank you to those who attended - especially those who came from out of town to join us - and whether currently involved or not, it was lovely to have share this occasion with you 🥰
