I believe that might well be a wrap. The mixing for wicked new long player, Fold is done and sounding mint. Big hearted tunes with excellent playing from the man himself alongside and I’m still finding so much pleasure and serious benefit from breaking mixes out on to the desk and through a juicy analogue chain. The Culture Vulture does delightful interventions on the drum buss with complimiter / germanium comps / HM2 valve EQ and bus plus all doing small but essential wrangling on the master buss. The difference they make is always worth the patching!

Beautiful day yesterday with the beloved - so good to see them again and man alive we filled our boots. The new album is going to be absolutely amazing. Some serious song writing coupled with wicked playing. And if I may, some mentally good sonics already in the can! 2 mics@on the drums. Cos that’s all .kiwitothecore needs to sound dope! (A Coles and a Chandler TG since you’re asking) Keep eyes and ears peeled.

A beautiful, packed start to 2026 - some of it captured magnificently by .betteridge.photography who managed to play superb bass with as well take most of these ace shot (you’ll be able to tell his from mine!) That’s bringing the pristine kit / chops and some chancer on the keys. As thrilling in 2026 as ever.

Not only does he make magic with all my guitars in his guise, or play amazing bass with the wonderful human .betteridge.photography also happens to take the most brilliant shots!! This is how I hope the studio feels - a hard thing to capture! Love you Nate.

A lovely day with and a special mention for the top tubsman who despite being only about 10 and insisting on wearing singlets to every session is a genuinely good human and wicked drummer - always up for some tuning shenanigans and some snare fettling and playing better every time I have the pleasure of covering him in mics.

Have had some wicked bands through from the east coast over the last year. The mighty and .herbison with on his way but just had the pleasure of 2 days with and man alive there are some serious players over there! Willsy’s project is packed full of the good stuff. We have a bit more work left to do but it’s going to be a PEACH. Lucky ears. (I didn’t get a single shot of the man - which is a shame cos he dresses well - but the Hammond got a trip out and is equally well attired)

A truly uplifting couple of days with recording the first few episodes of her brilliant new podcast. Super detailed, honest and revealing chats with Scotty from and Hemi from about songwriting, playing live, juggling life and art, rewards, frustrations, successes and a million other interesting insights. Plus stripped back live versions of some of their beautiful tracks. A pot filling couple of days.

Moogerfooger Lowpass Filter into Vortex spring verb (but just using the amazing line driver) equals gold on reamped electric bass. Can’t seem to get that sound any other way.
