We are an all-women choir based on the North Shore of Auckland led by choral director and singing teacher Clare Martin. Our passion is to sing technically well, to sing expressively well and to share our voices with real joy and pride. Our philosophy is to bring genuine engagement and love to an eclectic range of music from medieval Norwegian folksong to Mozart's Ave Verum to Billy Joel's "And So

it Goes".... We use sheet music but also recorded voice files so you don't need to read music, just be able to sing in tune with a tuneful ear.

Join the Belle Canto Women's Choir and the North Shore Male Choir for an evening of Celtic Revelry — a celebration of folk music from Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and the journey these songs made across the ocean to the Americas and beyond. A gorgeous programme including shanties full of swagger such as "Jolly Roving Tar" and "I'll Tell Me Ma" and ballads steeped in nostalgia, like "O Shenandoah" and the "Skye Boat Song." Come and enjoy these toe-tapping and heart-stopping songs and let the night carry you across the waters, to lands long ago.

The choirs are directed by Margot Button and Clare Martin and joined by pianist Megan Quatermass, and will feature Irish bodhran and fiddle player Marika Balzat.

We are SO looking forward to performing next weekend at the VoCo 2026 at the Auckland Town Hall. In it's tenth year of celebrating voices and choral singing across Auckland, this year we are performing three songs from our Celtic programme. A little taster of our main concert in October. We are welcoming new choir singers for 2026 to our women's choir for a new programme of Celtic music - music with its roots in Scotland, Ireland and Wales including songs of the fields and the mountains, sea shanties, dances and folk stories. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm in Highbury, opposite the Birkenhead Library. Fun and challenging rehearsals led by our music director Clare Martin Singing Teacher. No need to read music as sound files and music are provided, just bring your love of singing - come along :-)

Thank you to everyone who supported Belle Canto Women's Choir this year especially those who came to our Starry Nights and Spirited Days concert in November. Your support helped us raise $1000 for De Paul House supporting families in need. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to a new season in 2026. If you are interested in joining an awesome choir - why not come join us when we start again in February!
