Hello whānau, so… I am BACK! I will be running full day film acting training in TARANAKI at the end of January. These are full day intensive workshops for those interested in professional film and television.

Please see below and EMAIL ME ASAP if you are interested (I am hoping to add another TEEN day as this one has already filled with pre bookings!!!) so the second TEEN date is currently TBC - DO express your interest!!!!!!

JANUARY FILM & TELEVISION ACTOR TRAINING - with Holly Shanahan

All workshops are a full day. Exact time TBC, pencilled as 9am-4pm (youth). 9am-5pm (teens & adult).
All workshops require students to learn scenes prior to sessions. Information will come out when confirmed.

Thursday Jan 29 - YOUTH - 10-12yrs approx **school year= Y6-Y8

(FULL) Friday 30th Jan - TEENS - 13-17yrs approx
**school year= Y9-Y12

Saturday Jan 31st - YOUNG ADULT - 17/18-30yrs approx
**only taking school year13+ unless I advise otherwise for credited actors.

Sunday 1st February TBC (please express interest) - TEENS - 13-17yrs approx
**school year= Y9-Y12

All students will receive a digital file of their best take to use for any reels for HSM use / other agent use if not repped by us.

A new TELEVISION SERIES filming in Ngāmotu New Plymouth for two weeks at the end of October is looking for EXTRAS! We need loads of Māori and Pākeha adults of all ages.
No experience is required 🙂

DETAILS!
Approx 3 x Days between October 22 - November 2nd tbc, some may required additional days.
Daily Rate: $270 less 10% agency fee and 20% withholding tax - half days are paid at 60% of the full day rate.

Looking primarily for ADULTS 18-100yrs - Māori & Pākeha, so do get in touch if you’d like to give it a go!
A few teenagers / kids required also.

We are casting an international TV series which is shooting in Auckland, New Zealand.

WHO…
We are looking for GIRLS aged between 5 – 7 years old.
They should be PĀKEHĀ with BLONDE or LIGHT BROWN HAIR and GREEN EYES. This is to match an older actor that has already been cast.
You MUST already be based in New Zealand. No previous acting experience required.

AUDITIONS...
Auditions will take place at our studio in Auckland, instructions to be provided. If you are not based in Auckland, we can organise a zoom audition.

DATES & PAYMENT…
The potential participant must be available to work for a few days
between October 2024 - March 2025. Specific dates to be confirmed.

Our Story

West Coast Youth Theatre is a boutique drama school for creative youth 7-19yrs, based in New Plymouth, Taranaki. WCYT provides opportunities for Taranaki youth to learn and develop in both stage and screen craft. Led by professional actor, director and mentor Holly Shanahan, our students are performers, thinkers, players, investigators and doers of Imagination. We think outside the square and we PLAY. Develop your skills for theatre and film, perform, build confidence, learn about the professional industry and above all, have a jolly great time.

Each year brings a new range of topics, based on individual student interests and needs. Junior sessions focus on imagination, play and confidence in a wide range of stage skills.

In 2019, older classes will spend half the year studying and creating films and half the year on craft and skills in contemporary and classical theatre performance.

Holly also invites professional colleagues to visit and to attend the Taranaki Performing Arts Conference - this gives students the chance to meet and work with professionals currently working in the industry!
