We are sad to announce that Eight Ball Pool & Darts is officially closed, therefore there will be no more open mic as of today 🤍 At this stage there are no plans to start up again at another venue now or in future however we will keep you all in the loop if this changes!!
We just want to thank you all for the continued awhi, love and support you have given our musicians at Eight Ball.
Massive appreciation to the og hosts, Betsy Raines and Wakaia Tamehana for giving this open mic legs way back in 2022, without you guys our open mic wouldn’t have grown to be what it became today, a supportive and welcoming space for musicians to be themselves and share their original music with people. We love you guys 🥹
Shoutout to Chris Foreman from Swamp Shack Studios for you tautoko and offerings to our songwriters, thanks to you many of our songwriters were given the opportunity to record one of their original songs with you and for that we are so grateful!! Ngā mihi nui ki a koe 💚
Big kia ora to PSL Productions Ltd for supplying the equipment that made our musicians sound beautiful, appreciate your mahi.
To all the regulars who showed up to our open mic week after week, you are really the reason we were able to keep this going for as long as it did! Without your support our open mic would’ve crumbled sooner and we are so grateful that we got to expereince so many people sharing in their love for music every wednesday night for the last few years.
And lastly, thankyou to Mike for hosting us this entire time. The way you looked after us and made us all feel at home in your bar speaks volumes about the kind of person you are. Your love for music and support for the indie scene has allowed us space to show up as we are and meet likeminded people. Not only did you host our open mic but you hosted multiple touring bands and indie artists, if you ever went to Eight Ball you would’ve seen all the posters and stickers left behind from all kinds of amazing acts. We love you Mike and we wish you all the good vibes on your new chapter 🖤
