Trea Marshall’s richly layered works sit somewhere between painting, collage and assemblage, bringing together fragments of pattern, found imagery, gesture and object. There is a sense of play and spontaneity within the compositions, yet each work is carefully constructed through an accumulation of colour, texture and unexpected detail.

The first week back. And what a week it has been.

We reopened Kingsroy Gallery last Friday with a room full of familiar faces, new faces, big smiles, generous words and an overwhelming sense of support.

A week on, and that feeling has continued through the door.

The gratitude continues. And so does The Audacity.

A little moment to say thank you.

Last Friday, we reopened the doors to Kingsroy Gallery, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful welcome.

So many people came through the gallery, offered their support, shared kind words, asked questions, caught up with us and reminded us just how special this creative community is.

After everything it has taken to get back here, having the gallery filled with people, conversation and energy was pretty incredible.

Thank you to everyone who came along, sent a message, shared our reopening, supported our artists, or simply stopped by to say hello.

We’re so grateful to have you with us.

Kingsroy is open again. It feels great to say that. 🤍

Beginning again requires its own kind of courage.

For us, The Audacity isn’t simply the title of an exhibition. It’s a reflection of the belief that art is worth making, worth exhibiting and worth sharing.

We’re grateful to be opening our doors once more and to begin this next chapter alongside the remarkable artists whose work fills our gallery.

To our artists, collectors, visitors and supporters, thank you for believing in Kingsroy Gallery. Your encouragement, patience and continued support have meant more than words can express.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Bringing together artists from across Aotearoa, The Audacity celebrates the courage it takes to keep creating. To continue making, questioning, imagining and believing in the value of art, even when the path isn’t always easy.

After many months away, we couldn’t imagine a more fitting exhibition to mark this new chapter.
