What a fun Sunday afternoon we had yesterday. A great hands-on, works-do for The Head Office team. Learning some watercolour techniques, experimenting with the paint and Brenda Cash working her magic so they all went away with some confidence to tackle their own artworks. There was a lot of information in a short space of time and even more laughter along the way. A great group of ladies to spend the afternoon with.
Would you like something a little different for your team to do? We can create bespoke workshops to suit your group. No artistic experience required, just a willingness to have a go.

Dancing Dahlias #3 by Brenda Cash
Mixed Media. 61cm x 51cm
Brenda showcases her vibrant artworks in her studio at Gover St Gallery, downplaying her process of 'pushing paint around' when each piece is orchestrated with thought and vision with a relaxed and nostalgic feel. Brenda has a wide selection of her works on display including her signature florals. All worth coming to see.

Oeuvrer pour la Paix - Work for Peace by Franquoi
Mixed Media, Papier Mache, Clay on Board. 43cm x 30cm
Franquoi is a French artist who pushes the boundaries of surface and sculpture with a joyful refusal to follow the rules. Bringing non-conformist beauty to the unexpected, her relief artworks make you stop, question and admire all in her recognisable style. There are a number of works by Franquoi at Gover St Gallery. Well worth coming to see.

Bumpy Ride by Wayne Morris
Assemblage of Salvaged Treasures. 40cm x 22cm x 14cm
From a child Wayne has always enjoyed collecting stuff - from the beach, the bush, the dump and much to his parents' horror a lot of it was brought home. Wayne is attracted to the textures and shapes of a multitude of items that have already had an alternative use. The thoughtful assembling of originally non-connected objects creates artworks that are full of interest and humour. Wayne has a number of works in the gallery and they are all well worth coming to see.

Parininihi, White Cliffs by Sheryl Miller
Clay, Glaze and Recycled Glass. Wallhanging. 20cm x 23cm
Inspired by the landscapes of Taranaki, Sheryl Miller creates work that reflects her deep connection to the Maunga and the surrounding whenua. Coming from a creative local family, she combines clay, glaze and pieces of recycled glass collected from Taranaki's riverbanks and beaches to create richly textured works with an organic, earthy feel that celebrate the beauty of the region. Sheryl's work is well worth coming to see.

Another fabulous Sunday Studio with Brenda Cash. Yesterday we had an afternoon of Drawing Fun-damentals. Everyone looking and seeing, exploring negative and positive space and then full concentration with the paper bag challenge. Smiles all round as we scratched the surface of what drawing is all about and added a few new techniques to their own drawing toolbox.
