Taranaki, we have our Raw Comedy Quest finalists! 🎤

Last night, New Plymouth was treated to a serious dose of laughs as Raw Comedy Quest 2026 at Asgard, bringing together some of Taranaki’s stand-up talent.

And after a night of jokes, nerves, big laughs and plenty of punchlines, congratulations go to our winners:

🏆 Daniel Burgess

These two comedians will now represent Taranaki in the next stage of the Raw Comedy Quest, taking their comedy further on the national stage.

A huge congratulations to Jimbro and Daniel, and to every comedian who got up there and had the courage to make a room full of strangers laugh. 🎤👏

Taranaki clearly has no shortage of funny people. Some of them are even brave enough to admit it publicly! 😄

Thanks Callum Wagstaff for emceeing the event, Lance Taylor for entertaining us while judges made their judgements, Jessica Charlotte for organising the event.

What a night! Rain, economic doom, and political bickering tried to kill the vibe, but laughter staged a full-on rescue. Our double act and a brand-new Lost The Plot improv crew collided gloriously and created pure chaotic gold. Big thanks to everyone who performed, your wildly different styles made the room explode (in a good non-military way). Come back next month and bring your childhood trauma, your worries, and your sense of humor.
