Carrying on the Multi-Cultural theme of the week April brought the flavour of the Highlands and danced in front of her school alongside dancers from Samoa, Myanmar, Philippines, Germany, India, Sri Lanka, Spain and Thailand. How lucky are we to have such diversity to enjoy.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Well done April 👏👏

We had a blast at Nelson's Multicultural Festival at Founders Park today. It was very hot in the sun but the dancers kept their cool and breezed through some great performances that were well received by the crowds. Lots of people asking questions about the outfits, dances and even "why do they hold their fingers like that in the Fling🦌". Thank you to everyone that came to support us. Our 2026 dance competition calendar got off to a scorching start today right in the heart of Nelson. We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing day in the sun 😎 Today was all about those junior dancers and didn't they do well. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thanks to everyone that came to support the day. 👍

The 2026 dance competition calendar in filling up fast with events across the country. Some have very early cut off dates for entries so don't delay if you want to enter these competitions. All the dates currently released are on the Piping and The Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand website and are updated regularly so be sure to check in to get the latest info or for the links to the event schedules and entry forms.

Meredith was in Rangiora last weekend representing Nelson for their local dance competition. She had a very successful day with most points overall in the open category and was runner up for most points in the U18 section. She said "it was a really nice day and the competition went very smoothly. It was nice to be able to see dancing friends and meet some new people". She also lucked in on the raffle winning a prize......Can you guess what she won?.

Our last competition of the year wraps up what's been a very busy year. Motueka A&P show certainly was another hot one. Congratulations to everyone that came to dance with us today and throughout this year. You've been amazing 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 See you all again in 2026.

Our dancers have been super busy this weekend performing on both days. On Saturday Elodie, Juliette and Meredith performed at Coastal View Retirement Village. They entertained the residents with a fling, Seann Triubhas, sailors hornpipe and two sword dances. It was a pleasure to perform as a part of the residents Scottish week and we will definitely be returning.

On Sunday we attended the NBS Nelson Santa Parade. Despite the rain we all had a great time handing out lollies and doing a few dance moves. Thanks to Elodie, Isla, Kokoro, Kaede, Amalie and Meredith for participating.
