Our mission is to present dances that reflect our passion for movement, music and the synergy that happens when a group of individuals is synchronised and connected. Some of our dances are simply for the joy of movement while others tell a story or present a message. Some of the genres we’ve covered: electro swing, salsa, burlesque, bachata, cha cha, cumbia and a few moves borrowed from tango, bel
lydance and hip hop. Dance the Sun formed in 2011 as Las Calientes; since then the group has performed in a number of Nelson community events and Latin dance events around the South Island, including the Masked Parade and the South Island Salsa Champs.
