And so it all comes to an end. This has certainly been an adventure. I’ve learned so much about myself and this process; lessons that I’m going to carry with me for the rest of my life. I can no longer see myself doing anything else.

To say it was a life changing experience would be an understatement.

Just two and a half hours until our opening night, and we’re all prepped and ready to go! Still plenty of tickets if you...

Alexander Davies is a first time writer and director, who put together In My Own Words. Based very loosely on their own past experiences, this play was based loosely off their own experiences as a young person questioning their sexuality and gender identity. It all culminates in a story that tries to be sincere and appeal to people all across the LGBTQ community.

Alexander dreamed of being a writer and director since they were a teenager, but expected to get into film work. After accidentally ending up in the cast of Murder on the Nile in 2020, they found a love of theatre that they haven't been able to shake since. Now there's two dreams, and they hope to make it into a career though the stage and the screen.

Oh, and maybe they'll make a little cameo in In My Own Words, too.

Rhiannon Sinclair plays Lucy, the daughter and younger sister in In My Own Words. As a young woman, Rhiannon says it's easy to relate to Lucy because of their similar ages and mindsets, the both of them standing up for what's right as much as they can, which gives her a very sincere approach to the character.

Having been involved in the Nelson theatre scene since 2021, most recently in the 2023 summer pantomime Go West, Rhiannon hopes to pursue a career in acting. With a particular interest in film, it's certain that this young actor has a bright future ahead of her and we love that we get to be a part of her journey.

Patrick Conyers plays Jacob, David's adult son, who Patrick has been able to bring so much life to. He says of all the roles he's portrayed, he's been able to make David his own. Of the role, Patrick says that it's helped him put a voice to a feeling he's had, like he can explain himself. Despite having a supporting family, as a bisexual man he's experienced a lot of casual homophobia in his life.

Patrick has been very busy after recently getting involved with theatre, first in Murder on the Nile in 2022, before a busy 2023 where he was in Slice of Saturday Night, Pride and Prejudice and Our Man in Havana. With a love of acting, he hopes to move into writing and directing his own shows in the future.

Let's meet our cast!

Robin Ringwood plays David, father and patriarch of In My Own Words. Robin says he can relate with David, a man who raising his kids as best as he can. As someone who works, lives and breaths in an all male environment, David isn't homophobic but doesn't understand the effect what he says can have on the people he cares about.

Robin's a regular in the local theatre scene, having been a part of the cast of Go West in December of 2023, as well as Camelot, Sinbad the Sailor (Retired), Murder on the Nile and many more. He loves being on stage and will continue to be involved with the theatre as much as he can and enjoys wood turning and carving and brewing fruit wines, cider and beer in his free time.
