Wild forms from the deep south.
Inspired by the Southern Alps, rugged southern coastlines and New Zealand folklore, Rebekah Hall’s ceramic sculptures feel as though they have emerged directly from the landscape itself.
This series began with a coastal walk, where wind-shaped vegetation and a poem etched into rock sparked a deeper exploration of place, story and folklore. Drawing on South Island landscapes and traditional tales, each work carries its own narrative.
Incorporating locally sourced rock into her clay slips and using minimal glazing, Rebekah allows the beauty of natural materials and wild textures to speak for themselves.
We’re delighted to have these works, along with other ceramics by Rebekah, currently in the gallery.
