Four very different New Zealand women find themselves at a turning point in their lives and decide that the best way forward is to head overseas. Noeline - Sarah Graham
Noeline has recently lost her husband and decides that grief is not going to stop her from living. She heads to England to undertake an OE, taking on a series of live-in caring jobs while squeezing as much travel and life experience as she can into her new-found freedom. Warm, practical and wonderfully outspoken, Noeline sees the absurdity in almost everything and isn't afraid to say exactly what she thinks. Her adventures reveal a woman learning that starting over can be both heart breaking and exhilarating.

Frankie - Stacey Nelson
Frankie is a spirited, irreverent woman who has finally decided that life is too short to spend doing what is expected of her. After winning a little money, she leaves her husband behind and heads for England, determined to embrace adventure, romance and the occasional cocktail. Impulsive, optimistic and gloriously unfiltered, Frankie throws herself into travel with an enthusiasm that frequently gets her into amusing situations. For Frankie, the journey is as much about rediscovering herself as it is about seeing the world.

Ruth is a farmer’s wife, whose carefully constructed life is shattered when her husband leaves her for another woman. Hurt but increasingly determined, she decides to take control of her future by travelling to England and attempting something she has always wanted to do: write a novel. Ruth is thoughtful, resilient and quietly funny, and her experiences abroad force her to confront both her past and the possibilities of a new life. Her journey becomes an unexpected adventure in independence, creativity and romance.

Jean - Eleanore McLean
Jean is a recently redundant woman in her late fifties who has spent much of her life being sensible, organised and dependable. When her carefully planned life suddenly changes, she decides it is time to do something she has always dreamed of.. travel to England and trace her family history. Armed with lists, travel guides, sensible shoes and an impressive collection of practical equipment, Jean approaches adventure with both determination and considerable anxiety. Beneath her cautious exterior, however, is a woman discovering that she may be far braver and more adventurous than she ever imagined!

A big congratulations to the Challenger 1986 team on their successful weekend at the National North Island TheatreFest competition!
They bring back home the following awards:
- Outstanding Use of Techincal Elements
- Excellence in Acting to the whole cast.
- Excellence in Directing to Anthony Collier
- Excellence in Overall Production

A wonderful outcome for the whole Challenger team and for Napier Repertory Players. We are so proud!
