The Friday night Country Variety Night was a wonderful success.
Thank-you to everyone that attended our Country Variety night it was great to see so many come and share the night of great Country Music`. The feedback has been amazing.
A big thankyou to all the musicians that played you all did a great job.
A thankyou to guest artists Kate Moyle, Arthur Bouman, Jean Barkman, Scott Klenner, Bevan Gardiner, Stephen Wilcox, John Meddings with Melissa Partridge.
Thanks to Ian Chalmers on sound, Neil MacAndrew our MC and Arthur Bouman our stage manager and to the ladies in the kitchen a big thank-you. And everyone else that helped with the night as well thank-you.

Jean Barkman will be performing at our Variety Country Night on Friday 7th August at the Taieri Bowling Club starting at 7.30pm.

Jean has been singing country music for about 15 years now. Jean mainly sang folk music before country. Jean has competed at Gold Guitars at Gore and has 8 trophies, two of them for winning overall in the over-60s in 2015. In 2017, Jean plays ukulele, guitar, banjo, and autoharp. Jean was living in Waimate for some years,
and in December 2025 Jean moved to Mosgiel. The Silverpeaks Country Music Club are happy to have Jean as part of their club again.

John Meddings will be performing on the Silverpeaks Variiety Country Night at the Taieri Bowling Club on the 7th August starting at 7.30pm.
John is a stalwart of the music industry, well known throughout the South as an accomplished player, educator & luthier.
As a guitar player for hire, he has worked with many of the icons of the industry throughout NZ & Australia. His playing can be heard on several albums & TV soundtracks, still in demand as a backing musician for artists throughout Otago & Southland. John is most often seen playing with his popular trio Bare Essentials or in the pit playing a theatre show.

Bevan Gardiner will be a guest on the Silverpeaks Variety Country Night on Friday 7th August at the Taieri Bowling Club, starting at 7.30pm.
Bevan has been playing guitar since the age of 6, singing at the age of 10 and has been playing drums from the age 18.
In 2005 Bevan won the intermediate Gold Guitar at the annual New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards and, as a result of that, went to Tamworth to perform at the prestigious Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In 2008 he starred in "Whisper The Wind", the John Denver tribute show and toured around New Zealand.
He has since done eight more tours, three opening for Scottish singer-songwriter Isla Grant, opening for country legend Charlie Pride and touring the show “Take Me Home”, the music and life of John Denver, three times through New Zealand and Australia.
Bevan completed a Music degree at Otago University in 2012.
He also teaches guitar, singing and drums privately and teaches guitar and drums at Dunedin North Intermediate.
He also enjoys getting out and performing with his friend and duo partner James Davy. They do many pubs and functions around Dunedin and also do their “Bevan Gardiner Denver and Beyond” show, an acoustic tribute show to John Denver and other great country artists.
