Verdant is one of the three pieces I launched last week on my website, which is part of my 'Vistas' series.

Made from reclaimed timbers, esch piece gives new life to wood with its own history. Inspired by old barn and port like windows, the frames create a sense of looking out on to a landscape beyond.

The colours suggest glimpses of sky, water, earth, and vegetation, inviting you to pause and imagine the view.

This piece measures 250 mm w by 250 w and is made from reclaimed Kauri, Matai, and Rimu.

For the last six weeks, I’ve been working on these three new pieces, and they’ve brought me so much joy for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s been great to get back into the studio and be on the tools again, but I’ve also really enjoyed developing my woodworking skills and pushing myself to try new things.

Sophie’s practice engages with New Zealand’s heritage architecture and its influence on domestic life. She works with salvaged materials from villas and bungalows in Auckland that are being demolished as part of urban redevelopment.

Final piece complete ✨ A beautiful finish to a project I’m so proud of. 🤍

Today, I finished off the third and largest piece of my small collection of woodworks which will be released on Friday, 28th August(Thursday, the 27th, for my subscribers).

I'm proud as punch about these pieces, and I truly think my work has leveled up so much this year.

Now it's time to get these photographed on the wall and loaded on to my website!
