Gosh - only 5 sleeps to go. Really pleased to report we have had another 2 crafters come on board. But, if you are keen we still may be able to squeeze you in :-) Please get in touch with Gillian if you want to have your own space [email protected] or give her a call on 063277352.

I have added a small map below so you can find us at 94 Pukepapa Road in Marton if you haven't been before.

On the day there will some old favourites, and new faces with different crafts to last year. If you are a bit hesitant to have your own space you are very welcome to bring your own crafts along and just hang out and spend some time with fellow crafters.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

It is getting exciting!

Counting down the days now to opening the doors to this year's craft+alive with new artists bringing their creative passion to present to you. Sadly one of my crafters has had to pull out.
So, if you feel inspired to come along and share your skills with the other artisans and the public, please email:

Group profile: Watercolour artists

Our first watercolour artist - Anne also uses pastels and charcoal. Although she likes to draw portraits, Anne is inspired by any pretty setting.

Counting down now with just a month to go for crafts+alive. The 23rd of September will roll around very quickly now.
Make a plan with your friends, to come along and meet Anne, the watercolour artist.

Group Profile: The Writers

How often have you been asked by your grandchildren about your childhood? We start out saying, 'I remember we went ...' or 'When I went to school ...'

These are the stories that the 'Life Writers' tell. They have a topic which is then constructed into a story of memories for their grandchildren. Many a forgotten memory has come to the surface, some amusing and others, part of a healing process.

If you feel you have stories you would like to record for your family, come along to crafts+alive on 23rd September, and chat with the writers.

Group profile: The Colourists

The art of colouring is something we associate with our childhood, however now this meditative art is considered good mind therapy. It certainly fills in less productive time like waiting for a medical appointment. Come and share your colouring with the 'Colourists' who meet on a weekly basis at the Marton Public Library. They are coming to crafts+alive on 23rd September to share their creative colour with you. Bring your friends and spend an inspired day together.

I'm Jude. I write stories and I know stuff. Drop by my stall at crafts+alive and tell stories with me.
Ask me anything you want to know about writing and marketing books, talk about strange and unexpected facts from history.
Take a look at some of my books.

I've been writing since I was a small child, and made a living for many years as a journalist and commercial writer.
These days, I've given up interviews, forms, and government white papers to wrestle with plots involving dashing heroes and intrepid heroines, most in the first years of the 19th century.
I'll leave you to guess which one is more fun.

So come along on the 23rd of September, and bring your imagination!

Artist profile: I am Lynda and I am really looking forward to being part of crafts+alive 2023. I have created textile crafts for many years, which is how I first met Gillian.

My crafts are made from repurposed, recycled materials.
Wool blankets, expired electric blankets, Opportunity Shop finds, fabrics & bric-a-brac. Unique roomy bags, comfy cushions, oven gloves, hand towels, and cosy hot water bottle covers are a few of the items I make. One of the things I really enjoy is crafting flowers from recycled woollen blankets. It will be fun to demonstrate making these. So come along on the 23rd September.
I am looking forward to meeting you and your friends.
