The Old Oak

The Old Oak Est. 1861. An art gallery and framing studio on the Mangonui Harbour. Guests can relax in the gardens and on the verandas in a private and tranquil setting.

Our beautiful small hotel features seven rooms - four suites, two premium studios, and a standard room. The heritage building has been modernised for the comfort of our guests and has been decorated with a contemporary mix of modern and country. All rooms, other than our petite standard room, have modern heating and cooling systems and our three suites feature kitchenettes. The property is home to

a colonial inspired garden with organic herb and vegetable beds, formal rose garden, petanque court, harbour view verandas and a courtyard nestled into the hillside of native bush and ferns. The Old Oak provides superior service with daily housekeeping and concierge services. Enjoy fishing, swimming, country walks, and strolls along Waterfront Drive in the charming village of Mangonui. The village features restaurants and cafes, boat launching facilities, New Zealand's most famous Fish & Chips shop, art galleries and craft shops, and historic buildings. We are a short drive to the scenic destinations in the Far North with its subtropical climate, beautiful beaches, bays, and harbours. Surrounding the stunning coastline is countryside of rolling green hills and forests.

The framing studio has been busy! Here are some examples of our recent projects, including some of the works on exhibit in our art gallery. We have a wide range of frames and mats to choose from, and also do bespoke projects.

The Old Oak framing studio is open by appointment, and during gallery hours this autumn: 12-2 Fridays, 11-5 Saturdays, 11-2 Sundays.
