Based in Mangawhai we At 818 we focus mainly on Tamoko and Custom designs. We don't have tattoo designs on the walls to pick from as we draw to suit but can work from your references and sometimes your drawings to create you a unique piece.

Originally booked for a calf piece similar to his two Sons pieces we did in 2025
The Whanau threw me a curve ball a week out from the booking and wanted to include the outline of a Kākā from a piece of artwork his Mum had before she passed that Sofia Minson NZ Māori Artist 🎨 did.
Not wanting to be that guy and just rip a outline straight from her piece i messaged to ask if it was okay by her first with abit of a explanation of what we would be doing. Knowing with short notice being a highly sort after artist we were only hoping for a reply before the booking day.

Twas the night before with no reply so i decided to look for a similar image of the Kākā to work from aswel.
The overall body shape was pretty much there within the boys pieces so i thought it wouldn't be hard to incorporate the Kākā head into the piece. WRONG...
Hours later after trying to keep it within the calf a few different ways i thought what if the head was above the calf that way if the boys wanted to add the head to their pieces later that would be possible. In the end the time spent on the ipad ended up being just over 4 hours.
Turns out the bros muscle in that area made it even more suited for the head to go there aswel 🙌

Not my usual style as people with their own designs usually want it exactly like the image they have or we know somebody who we can recommend who does that style day in day out.
Every now and then we get somebody who is happy give us abit of freedom to make some alterations 🤓

Fur babies Memorial for Colline Redpath

We were pitched the idea to do something for Gucci and Nacho but not clearly like "oh those are Cats"
We spent abit of time getting the design, flow, parts and placement right which was well worth it in the end when she looked in the mirror after we finished one side and then completed the 2nd 🙌
