It's not unusual for music groups to go through changes in personnel over time. With every change, members need to reinvent themselves and take on new roles, even though this might be scarey. This has certainly happened with this uke group who now call themselves The Limited Edition. It's a real joy to see people reinventing themselves, adapting their performances and still continuing to delight their audiences. Well done folks

The 3 members of the Cashenettes all play baritones, laying down a rich, mellow harmonic foundation. Add to that 3 tuneful and confident singing voices with a lovely melody and you've got a recipe for a really strong performance. The group was formed only a short time ago but it sounds like they've sung together for ages. Well done, ladies, and many thanks.

It was great to see so many people turn out for last night's Magical Monday - we counted 93. We missed Selwyn who was having some panelbeating done, Marie and Neil were sitting on a beach somewhere warm and the Wombles were floating around on a boat somewhere, but the rest of us had a great time making music.

Our guest artists, the Limited Edition and the Cashenettes, were really great - videos to come soon. We love to hear our local talent with their clever interpretations of well-known songs.

Our next Magical Monday will be July 13th and we'll be doing sets 9, 15 and 29. Plenty of time - but start practising now.
We also have a vacant guest spot if you want to start climbing the ladder to stardom.

In the meantime, here are some of the better photos from last night

Not everyone's a genius. Sometimes people forget important things. We feel sorry for them don't we?

So let's remember not to forget tomorrow's Magical Monday, starting at 7pm at The Club. We'll be doing sets 8, 14 and 31 - a memorable musical melange - so we hope you've done some practice. If you don't have these sets, they can be downloaded from our website - https://magicalmondays.weebly.com/songs-to-download.html

Our guest artists will also be memorable. The Limited Edition - a downsized group of Mangawhai musicians - and The Cashenettes - an upsized group of Mangawhai musicians. We do like a nice balance in our lineup.

It's going to be an unforgettable evening but it will be even better if we see you there.

We won't be playing any Bach at our next Magical Monday but you'll still be helping us to make some great music. Yes, another Magical Monday is just around the corner and we'd like to see you there.
It'll be well worth it. Our guest artists this month are The Cashenettes - a new group made up of an old group with an extra new player. Then there's The Limited Edition - another old group, this time with a couple of players missing. Isn't recycling a wonderful idea?

Right!! Get out your diaries and jot down these details:
June's Magical Monday, June 8th at The Club. 7pm start and entry is still free.
Sets 8, 14 and 31 and some wonderful guest artists.
Hoping to see you there.

This bloke's having a birthday in a week's time and giving us all a day off. Such fun.
A week after that, it's time for June's Magical Monday. Even more fun. Put it in your diary.

We'll be working our way through sets 8, 14 and 31 so get that ukulele out and start practising.

So far, we've only got 1 guest group booked - The Cashenettes. This is a new group, but actually it's an old group with a new member. Intrigued? Hope so.
We've still got space for another guest artist / group. If you haven't done a guest spot yet, you should seriously contemplate it. OK so it's a bit scary but it's only 2 songs and it will look so good on your CV.

Send us an email at [email protected] to register your interest.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

The plan was to open with a rousing rendition of "It's Hard To Be Humble" but Dave, unfortunately, couldn't read the words and Neil was left guessing where he was up to. Not a good start but a reading light was found, a bass player was added and the Mooloolooba Barflies gained sufficient composure to tackle "Sweet Caroline". A very empathetic audience joined in with actions and supporting choruses. Well done guys. We await your next outing with anticipation..

Waipu's Sizzling Sisters are very popular guest artists at our Magical Mondays. They did a wonderful job of helping out Elaine and Miguel with our sets in the absence of Lesley and Rose. Here's a lovely performance of an old Chuck Berry number.
Always a pleasure to hear these ladies sing and play.

Last night's Magical Monday was a mixture of triumph and disaster. Thankfully the positives outweighed the negatives and everyone had a great time. Despite the price of petrol and the onset of chilly weather we had 86 people from as far away as Rotorua and Whangarei.
The Sizzling Sisters from Waipu were magnificent stand-ins for Rose and Lesley who are still swanning around Europe somewhere. If they stay away too much longer they might have to reapply for their jobs.
The Mooloolooba Barflies provided great entertainment even though last night might not rank among their greatest achievements.
So, despite the technology not working, batteries going flat and challenges with balancing the new sound system, we all had a wonderful evening. That's what Magical Mondays are all about.
