Te Kōhanga Manaaki - Petone Playscape

We hope this will be a space of belonging and connection. The play area is open 7am-7pm daily. The Hamoava Petone Coffee Cart is open 8:30am-3:30pm Tues - Sat. Children must be supervised at all times. As we want to keep the space as accessible for everyone as possible, we don’t hire out the play space but small groups are welcome to meet there for a party while being sensitive to other users of t

he space. The hall next to the play area is available for hire for $25 p/h*, flick an email through to [email protected] for date availability or any further questions. Weekend hall hire is generally available after 3:30pm on a Saturday and after 1pm on a Sunday. Please note the playground isn’t accessible from the hall but can still be accessed via the front gate. Environmentally friendly. - Our playscape hopes to be a place that is aware of and encourages our responsibility to look after the world around us. Inclusive - The playscape is designed so that all children will be able to play no matter what limitations they have. From able bodied to differently abled, from babies struggling to lift their head through to rambunctious adventurers. The playscape will be a non-judgemental and welcoming environment for all people to feel at home. Developmentally appropriate - The playscape has been designed with particulate awareness of the developmental needs of children under 5. Kids have helped design, build and shape this playscape. Restorative - The playscape will encourage right relationships between children and children, children and themselves, children and adults, and children and the environment around them. Creative - We hope the playscape will promote creativity and imaginative play. As many elements as possible are only limited in use by a child’s imagination.
