NZ Summer Stitch Day today- making embroidery visible.
and I visited the beautiful gardens at today and met hosts Stephanie and Laurie. We set up our stitching ‘station’ as other visitors admired the blooms. We were joined by a lovely English lady, here on holiday who had bought some stitching along on her travels. Mel helped her with some stitching techniques and I gifted her with a little piece of silk ribbon embroidery to remember the couple of hours we had spent stitching together. Such an inspiring place to visit, it was hard to pack up and leave.

This piece didn’t make the Soil to Sky exhibition because I didn’t want to frame it wrongly in haste. Perhaps it will have it’s moment another time. Beautiful seashore treasures collected on an evening walk with a dear friend. Memories made and now stitched with a complimentary ‘sunset’ palette.

So proud to have had a couple of my silk ribbon embroidered pieces on display, on the stall this weekend at the ‘What a Weekend’ in Nelson. Studies of the dog noses belonging to a Collie and a Bichon poking through some flowers. A class on stitching with collected seashells completed the weekend.

Another update. Last night I tacked on some branches and I am still pleased with the layout this morning. These pieces of rope/strings will be stitched over with nicer threads but are useful in creating the bulk of the form.

Up early this morning and felt excited to play before the day began in earnest. I have added some more texture to the darker flat lay and then found a piece of fabric with pears on it and suddenly a lighter lay option started to formulate for the Joyful Embroidery course
