2020 and beyond has been a hard time for musicians and performers, and we are all grateful for that connection with live music and the wonderful concerts we have enjoyed at home with friends and talented musicians. It is my great pleasure to host and support groups or solo performers, and I know our audiences have thoroughly enjoyed the intimate venues, house concerts and social suppers. I offer m

y sincere thanks to the music lovers who have offered their homes for past events. As upcoming events are organised, they will be advertised through facebook, an email list, and LFMC page. As numbers are usually limited, please book by email to save a seat - [email protected] Costs for house concerts are kept low by requesting a shared plate, and all proceeds are passed on to performers who have shared their time and talents with us. Feel free to invite others who will give their full attention to the musicians. Thank you to everyone who has hosted, or come along as audience. Your enthusiasm and support for live music is appreciated. If you can afford to, please donate to their websites, buy merchandise or music from Bandcamp, or watch virtually and add your donations directly. I look forward to future concerts, and bringing you more amazing music.

Performers travelling NZ in late October 2025 can apply to Wellington Folk Festival for a guest spot. Does that appeal to you?

PERIOD FOR PERFORMER APPLICATIONS EXTENDED.

We have extended the period for applications from aspiring guests for the 2025 Wellington Folk Festival. Applications now close at midnight on Sunday 2 March.

The Festival will take place over Labour Weekend 24 to 27 October.
If you’d like to be in the programme in any of these capacities (or know people who might), here is a link to our online application form:

Feel free to forward this link to your friends or anyone you’d like to see on our guest list. Applications are encouraged in any of these areas: Concerts or other performance; Dance in a variety of traditional and modern styles; Workshops on dance, musicianship, performance, specific instruments, cultural and historic influences and evolution of folk music and dance; Learning (and fun) activities for kids
The application form has specific guidance on how to put together your application. It’s important to complete the form in full so we have a consistent basis for comparing potential guests and preparing a rough programme.
We expect to be in contact with shortlisted guests by the end of April.

Keeping up live music in Levin

This is such a hard time for musicians and performers, and we are all missing that connection with live music and the wonderful concerts we have enjoyed at home with friends and talented musicians.
