Copper wire sculpture by Cathy Sampson is another great example of an artist inspired by our environment in Karamea. We recommend taking a look at her work regularly - it's very popular and doesn't last in the walls very long! Photos could never do justice.

One of the benefits of art spaces like ours is not just showcasing local Art. We live in a busy crazy world and galleries can often offer a moment of tranquility and reflection, or just 'time out'.

We've enjoyed some great conversations since opening and it's so nice seeing that people really are interested in locally made Art.

Visiting Karamea? Check out the Walking Tree Gallery in Market Cross, next to Vinnies cafe. A short distance from there you can see the.actual Walking Tree that won the title NZ Tree of the Year, 2024. This was the inspiration for the gallery name.

It's another beautiful day in Karamea. Drop in to the gallery and say hello if you are in town. We recommend checking out the amazing woodwork by new gallery artist Nigel Stallwood. You might have to be quick though....its very popular and flying out the door . He has just been in to drop off new pieces and it's awesome to see the appreciation our patrons have for locally made art and craft.

The gallery has been open a few months now and we are delighted with the response from the community and visitors to Karamea. Weve seen how much people love and want to support local art as much as we do. Please encourage your art loving friends to follow our page where we will update you on events and the amazing new artists work featuring at the gallery. 10am to 3pm daily, find us next to Vinnies Cafe in Market Cross.

It’s been just over a week since we have opened the art gallery and so far it has been a great kicking start! We have had +150 visits and have surprisingly made quite a few sales so it is very encouraging to keep going and inspiring to create more.
Thank you everyone for making it possible and to the people involved in the project, we highly appreciate your support and encouragement.

Also we are open to any feedback. You are more than welcome to share your insights and suggestions as visitors so we can make improvements to offer the best experience possible.
