Shakespeare In The Park NZ Shakespeare in the Park is an annual event held in Invercargill in February, in one of Southland's b The shows vary from year to year.

Shakespeare in the Park is an annual event held in Invercargill in February, in one of Southland's beautiful parks.Gardens and parks such as Queens Park are at their most beautiful in summer. It is against this backdrop that Shakespeare in the Park takes place. Sometimes a full play is performed (eg, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream) while in other years a "promenade" performance is presented, whereby audiences are escorted around the park, taking in short scenes, as a smorgasbord of Shakespeare. In all cases, the event offers local performers and creative teams the chance to present a unique show that clearly show the power, humour, passion and brilliance of The Bard. The Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust provides governance and manages the event, and has done so since the trust's inception in 2000.

Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust is thrilled to announce our 2027 production will be HAMLET!

Taylor's screen credits include the US Netflix feature The Royal Treatment, US television series Ash vs Evil Dead(STARZ) and Power Rangers(Nickelodeon), and popular New Zealand shows including Filthy Rich, Shortland Street, Dear Murderer, and Auckward Love.

Most recently, Taylor appeared in Constellations, for Repertory Invercargill, off the back of Darcy Yuille’s hit Australian comedy, 5 Minutes Later.

We've had the great pleasure of having Chris Herman operate sound for a great number of our park shows, along with the brilliant team at Sono Sound Systems Ltd. Your commitment to your craft in the entertainment biz in the South is much appreciated!

Congratulations to Chris Herman who was awarded Life Membership of Invercargill Musical Theatre at our AGM last night.

Chris first became involved with IMT in 1998 when he joined the sound team for West Side Story. Since then he has been involved in around 40 productions in various roles: cue caller, sound assistant, sound designer, sound operator and manager.
Now working professionally in the sound industry, Chris still gives countless voluntary hours back to our
society. Whether it’s looking after and maintaining our sound gear, attending rehearsals or setting up equipment for events such as our auditions and Nights at IMT, he is always there or just a phone call away.

Chris very generously gives his time and expertise to support IMT in many ways and we are delighted to recognise him with Life Membership.
