There’s just something a little bit special about kererū.

They made my top five for Forest & Bird’s and are part of my motivation for planting natives and using Predator Free New Zealand Trust trapping in our backyard.

That’s why I’m so happy my first kererū carving belongs with a great kaitiaki taiao in Otatara, where the whirr of kererū overhead is a more familiar sound. 🪶
