It’s our final cast introduction, and to quote songwriter William Shakespeare “it’s about damned time.”

This chap in the photo is not William Shakespeare, incase you got excited. This is Callum Fowler. Callum has been and not to been on the Rep House stage a bunch of times and is not related to William Shakespeare at all. Not sure why you thought they were related. Are you okay?

What to tell you about Callum? Well, his least favourite colour is Orchard green (Pantone 448 C) (why did we google that? It’s awful!) The cast buddy he reckon he’d take down in a fight is Liv “because I’ve hidden the antidote” and the line from Noises Off that Callum can’t get out of his mind voices is “It’s all about getting on and getting off. Getting the sardines on, getting the sardines off.” Callum thinks you should all get a wriggle on to buy tickets to the show “to see me get the sardines off.”

Callum plays Lloyd Dallas, the aliterate, sarcastic and exasperated Director of the play within the play you’re coming along to see. Lloyd is a busy chap, who never quite gets his affairs in order, leading to several disastrous outcomes.

OPEN AUDITIONS FOR SUPERNAN!
Repertory Invercargill is pleased to announce Open Auditions for our annual family show of 'SuperNan!' by Carl Nixon as our last production for our 90th celebration.

we’ve obtained an exclusive image of the one and only Ana Bettio and we’d like to show you. Can you see it? Isn’t it a goody?

Ana is posing for this photo because she’s in a play we’re doing called Noises Off. This is the first time Ana has been out the front of the back of the stage at Repertory. She’s been out the back of the front of the stage as a hair and makeup artist for people who go in front of the back of the stage. For Noises Off, Ana’s doing a little bit of makeupping out the back of the front of the stage AND doing quite a bit of acting out the front of the back of the stage. Never at the same time though otherwise we’d have to knock a wall down.

Would you like to know some juicy gossip about Ana Bettio? You’re so naughty!

Ana’s least favourite colour is orange or yellow which clash with her natural ginger hair that she paid for. She thinks she could take anyone but Liv in a fight as she looks like she could take a punch and come back with a vengeance. The line looping around and around in Ana’s head when she tries to sleep is “VICKAYYYYY!!!” and she thinks you absolutely must come to see Noises Off because “it's SO funny and original! We have a great cast and are in stitches in rehearsals. And I'm in my underwear. If that doesn't convince anyone, I got some serious work to do, lol”

Ana plays Brooke Ashton, a sought-after actress who’s sort of terrible at acting. Brooke plays Vicki, an inland revenue agent who’s having a sneaky little lunchtime rendezvous but ends up in a real state in her smalls for all the world to see!

This looks an awful lot like Liv Cochrane. Is it? No. Wait. Yes it is. Her name is beside her face. It has to be Liv Cochrane. Look. Let’s talk about her as if it IS her, and if it’s not, someone will say something and we’ll delete this later. Yes? Right.

Liv Cochrane has formed a habit over the last few years of wandering round the Rep House stage as if she owns it. Well, she doesn’t. She simply doesn’t. She’s only allowed there because she’s sleeping with the Director of Noises Off THERE I SAID IT.
I said the thing we were aaaaaall thinking.

I apologise. I’m sure she’s a nice person or whatever she’d like you to think. Let’s just tell you about her and forget the other thing I said. Liv’s least favourite colour is grey, she thinks she could take literally any castmate in a fight by telling the director they were mean to her. The line from the show thats now Liv’s vocal stim is “Aaaall these doooors” and she thinks you should come to see her in Noises Off because she loves attention.

Liv plays Dotty Ottley, a beloved, seasoned actress who has invested heavily into the show, but has a spot of bother remembering lines, props, and that she’s in a show at all by the end of it. Off stage she’s embroiled in several love triangles and rifts, but onstage Dotty is the innocent Housekeeper Mrs Clackett who just wants to sit down with her sardines in peace.

You’re not going to believe it, but we’ve found a Hannah Kennedy! She’s right there! Look!

This particular Hannah Kennedy is native to the stage, so it’s hardly surprising that she was found on the one at Repertory House. There she was. Just standing in the middle of it when we turned the lights on to start rehearsals for Noises Off! And we all laughed and cheered and she did a little dance and she lives here now and we are delighted.

Incase you need to identify a Hannah Kennedy, here’s some handy dandy hinty bits:

Hannah’s least favourite colour is pastel pink, she seems to believe she could take Aaron in a fight because she thinks he’d be too nice to fight back (see post immediately before this one for Aaron’s perspective…). The line from Noises Off that this Hannah has going on and on and on in her head? “No bars! No burglar alarms!” and she thinks you should come along to see Noises Off “especially if you want to test the strength of your pelvic floor.”

This Hannah Kennedy plays Belinda Blair, a talented and resourceful actress who cares very deeply for everyone and their personal business…. Belinda plays Flavia who is played by Belinda who is played by this Hannah Kennedy that was found on the repertory stage where we will find YOU sitting in front of *this* *very* *Hannah* *Kennedy* during the season of Noises Off from the 9th - 12th September, 2026

Bee Tee Dubs, if you come and spot this Hannah Kennedy, you can tick it off your Hannah Kennedy spotting list. How fun!

Shall we meet another of our actor types?
We’re going to guess you said “YES! LET’S” because we can’t hear you, and (industry secret here) this post was written before you read it. Therefore, the question itself is rather performative. We could delete it, and just say “HERE’S AARON MCKECHIE!!!” but that would require editing, and we’ve gone to all the effort of typing up to here…

HERE’S AARON MCKECHIE!

Noises Off is Aaron’s first appearance at Rep House, but he’s made plenty of appearances at other houses, including ones he’s lived at, over the years.

What else, what else… well, Aaron’s least favourite colour is red, the blood of angry men ( 🇫🇷), contrary to what others may have implied, Aaron could take everyone down with ALL of his swords AND his melee skills AND probably with other things cause he’s tough so you shaddup, Richard. The line that rattles round in Aaron’s noggin on a loop is “VICKAAAAY!” AND, he thinks you should all come along to see Noises Off because “the cast are hilarious! I'm serious! I'm in hysterics every rehearsal! I'm soo happy to be a part of this awesome cast!”

Aaron is playing the role of Tim Allgood, the overworked, overtired and overly relied upon stage manager for the absolute shambles that is touring farce Nothing On. Handy man, personal shopper or understudy - you name it, Tim will solider on and get it done, sort of.

Don’t panic, don’t panic!!!
We’ll get back to introducing our cast tomorrow. Tonight they’re all sweating bricks, preparing for the first scripts down rehearsal. “Scripts Down” (or “Off Book”) is where the director gets to cast one person off the stage for not learning their bits good, and they have to s***f out their torch and hang up their chefs hat or whatever it is they do.

He’s in Noises Off too, you know!

Richard has graced many a stage, but this is his first time on the Rep House one. Boy has he fallen head over heels for it… (for the Swifties out there, you would definitely clown for that line.)

Richard’s least favourite colour is Aubergine. He would attempt to take fellow cast member Aaron in a fight as Aaron has too many swords. “Someone with that many swords is obviously trying to compensate for a total lack of combat ability (it's high risk assumption but I'm sure it will pay off). I'd probably just make a loud noise and smother him with a sheet until he inevitably surrendered.” Richard appears to have thought this through, and we appear to be in need of a medic on set.

The line keeping Richard awake at night? “She *has* been in the family for generations”. He also insists you should pop along to Noises Off because “it pushes the concept of "the show must go on" to the absolute extreme, some would say way too far. But mostly it's just hilarious!”

Richard is slipping into the role of actor Garry LeJeune who slips all over the role of Estate Agent Roger Tramplemain. Garry is very sure of himself and simultaneously wildly unaware of himself. Garry is passionate about many things (including a certain actress which makes things a little… you know?)

Have you ever seen a Sarah McCarthy?
Well, now you have, because this is one.

Sarah McCarthy has taken the stage at Repertory many times, and it’s a real faff to get it back off her because shes very good at hiding it. One time she didn’t take it, she merely put a tarpaulin over it and made it look like she’d taken it because she couldn’t hire the tandem trailer that weeke…. Right. Sorry. I went off on a tangent there, didn’t I?

Sarah. YES. What to tell you about Sarah…
Her least favourite colour is Apricot. She knows she’d take fellow castmate Callum in a fight because he’s a big Jessie, the line that’s imbedded itself into daily life for Sarah is “Vickaaaay!” and she insists you should come to the show because “If you haven’t done a workout in a while this is a great place to start.” We presume she’s talking about developing ab muscles through laughing, but also, she might rope you in to take the stage after closing night. You must resist.

Sarah is playing Sal Mowbray who is playing a burglar. It will make more sense when you see it, pinky swear. Sal is a gleefully unreliable actress with a small problem that causes a rather large kerfuffle.

Anyway, you pinky swore, you’re definitely coming to watch Sarah in Noises Off now. No backsies.
