This Saturday afternoon, The Blyth Performing Arts Centre is hosting a piano recital by Otis Prescott-Mason as he raises funds ahead of his postgraduate performance studies at Yale School of Music.

Otis has also generously offered to give a masterclass in the morning and some of our student pianists are fortunate to be taking part.

We encourage our community to come along and be entertained by this talented young man in our world class concert chamber 🙌🎶💙

Otis Prescott-Mason, one of New Zealand’s leading young pianists, comes to Hawkes Bay for a solo piano recital. This concert will be his last public performance before leaving New Zealand to begin postgraduate studies, at the Yale School of Music, in the United States.

We are thrilled to host this concert here at The Blyth Performing Arts Centre.

We are thrilled to be hosting the Hawke's Bay Chamber Music Contest over the next two days. We would love to see you at The District Final at 6.30pm on Friday 5th June.

CMNZ's NZCT Chamber Music Contest District Rounds begin this week.

For more than 60 years, the Contest has helped young musicians across Aotearoa fill their musical kete through playing together. It celebrates collaboration, creativity, and the joy of making music.

This week, students from across the motu will take to the stage in the first round of the 2026 Contest. The District Rounds are open to the public, and we'd love to see local communities come along to support these talented young musicians and hear the results of months of dedication, teamwork, and musical exploration.

📍 Tairāwhiti – 3 June
📍 Auckland – 3–7 June
📍 Southland – 4 June

"Humbly grand, elegantly simple, rich without being opulent or obnoxious, this building serves its practical purpose with a self-evident composure. Beautiful volumes are shaped with simple, well detailed materials that will allow this extraordinary amenity to gracefully serve many generations".

The Blyth Performing Arts Centre was awarded a Gold Pin for Spatial Design in the Public and Institutional Spaces category in 2015.
