Without them and that show, there would be no us. We simply could not have realised the dream without the support of our community and the friends who came to help in getting that play to stage.

Sooooo, we've been teasing for a while...

And the time has FINALLY come for us to introduce you to the BlackBox Creative TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY PRODUCTION 'American Idiot: The Musical'!

Coming to The Meteor November 2-9.

We've once again teamed up with some of the Waikato's greatest creative minds to bring you another smash-hit Broadway musical, from the dark side. 🤘

It’s been a while, kid, but we never forgot about you. We’ve actually really missed you. We’ve just been busy, getting creative, living life… growing up, y’know?

You’ve grown up too! You’re TEN this year – where did that time go? We were so young and fresh when we started you.. But don’t worry. We have something INCREDIBLE lined up for you, you’re going to have the best anniversary ever 🤩 We’re so excited, we’ve already started planning it!

To say it has been a whirlwind of a weekend is an understatement! Our season of Heathers the Musical sold out before it opened and our first weekend of shows were VERY well received (see Write On for the Arts review 😉) It is because of this and the huge popular demand that we HAVE ADDED IN AN EXTRA PERFORMANCE of Heathers the Musical🎉 Tickets are available NOW to HEATHERS at The Meteor on TUESDAY JUNE 8 at 7:30pm. IMPORTANT INFO FOR ANYONE ATTENDING Heathers: The Musical… Resurfacing is/will be taking place at night during the season at the ANZAC PARADE AND GREY ST INTERSECTION next to Snap Fitness. Anzac Parade, from Memorial Drive to Grey Street will be closed between 7pm and 6am with a detour in place, access to Memorial Drive will remain available. Grey Street, between Clyde Street and Te Aroha Street, will also be closed during this time with a detour in place. PLEASE consider this road closure when making your way to The Meteor for a 7:30pm performance of HEATHERS as it may impact how long it will take you to get to the theatre. Established in 2014, BlackBox Creative is a boutique theatre collective that specialises in daring theatre experiences, in a modern/contemporary context.

BlackBox Creative’s mission is to create opportunities for both first-time and experience creatives, with the intention of contributing to a standard of professional theatre in Hamilton. As well as providing access to audiences through reasonable ticket prices, and innovative, contemporary work.
