Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2026 Waikato River Authority Funding Round.

Each year, the WRA provides funding for projects that restore and protect the health and wellbeing of the Waikato and Waipā Rivers. From enhancing habitats for native species and improving water quality to supporting iwi-led initiatives and community restoration, these projects help bring the Vision & Strategy for the awa to life.

Applications have now closed for 2026, and our assessment process is now underway to allocate up to $6 million in funding this year.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of October 2026. Successful applicants will then be guided through the next steps to complete their Deeds of Funding and begin their projects in 2027.
