Summary:
Twenty-five years ago the heat became unbearable. In desperation, humanity deployed a planetary shroud that blocked the sun's heat. Seasons vanished, the natural world withered, and life reshaped itself around artificial light. Now, in a superstore called Daylight Savings, three young workers and their manager grind through another endless shift. Everything changes when two intruders arrive with a plan to bring back the sun.

We are auditioning early as intermittent development workshops will happen with the cast prior to the rehearsal period.

We are seeking actors for the following roles:

CHARLIE (M, 30-35) Middle manager. Micromanager. Pushover.

BANKS (M, 35-40) Studied theoretical physics before the dark, now a criminal. Dedicated, soft spoken.

DOLLY (F, 35-40) Was a lawyer before the dark, now a criminal, unstable.

KATE (F, 40-65) The domineering regional manager

CUSTOMER (Any, 16+) This role is a variety of comedic bit parts.

"How come you’re so calm about all this? I started to have dreams after the diagnosis, they were terrifying."

Rita is as hard as the timber she works with. Her workshop hums with neighbours, clients, and friends. But when she receives devastating news, Rita faces her toughest job yet - calling her estranged daughters home. She’s not ready for treatment, not ready to stop working, not ready to face the past. For the first time in years, Rita starts to wonder if she can put things right. Rita is played by Michelle Ranginui in her stage debut.
