Dancewell Studios will officially close after tomorrow night.

Round 2 Inter-Studio Dance Festival Cancelled!

Dear friends,
It is with much regret that I inform you we have had to cancel next weekend's Inter-Studio Dance Festival in Hamilton due to a lack of entries.
The recent financial downturn, covid reinfections and a lack of students within our studios have all combined to make it impossible to run the event.

All people that have entered will receive an email explaining the situation and a full refund will be offered.

Both Tin and I would like to thank you very much for all your support during our attempt to help revitalize our Grassroots industry and help rebuild studios after the Covid Pandemic.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and we will help in any way we can.

We are only 11 days out from Round 2 of the Inter-Studio DanceSport Festival in Hamiton.
Entries are still open but will be closing soon so get your entries in tonight!
The New Rock'N'Roll section is also available which will be heaps of fun to watch and compete in.
We have studios from Hamilton, Tauranga, Kiri Kiri, Northland, Auckland, Pukekohe and other regions turning up to show their support for this wonderful grassroots event.
You certainly don't want to be the studio to miss this one team!!!

Grassroots DanceSport is very much alive in New Zealand’s North.
Round 1 of the Inter-Studio was a complete success in Hamilton last weekend, with full fields of recreational competitors (With some events even needing rounds) and a well-supported field of previously and currently registered DanceSport competitors of all ages and levels.
Dancewell Studios launched the Grassroots Open Source DanceSport App and after a couple of adjustments and a lot of help from our developers, we managed to get all entries online and also the Live Events Application up and running, on the day.
We had two formation teams compete against each other with a strong representation from:
North Shore Dance Centre “Senior Moments” Team performing their brand new routine - Come Fly With Me. Amazing Costumes, fresh new formations and a full repertoire of free-flowing dance styles made this a spectacle to behold. Great dancing!
Elly-Anne Pritchard from The Dance Company in Tauranga presented her new formation team (Which barely fitted on the dance floor mind you!) “Legend”. Being a fresh and very excited team of mainly first performers, this team were out to have nothing but a great time. Their performance had no less than 9 dances performed and completely filled our 15mtr by 25mtr floor. Can’t wait to see this team evolve and grow.
New Innovations at the Inter-Studio:
The Pro/am Am/am TEAMS MATCH NV had to be the spectacle of the day with 5 Team Captains taking the floor with their team of 5 different dancers (One for each dance). The hall erupted into cheers of support as the crowd knew they were about to see something very special, fresh and new to DanceSport. There is no need to say that in the end, the true winners were the attending public.
SO, what’s next?
We are so very proud to announce the inclusion at the next Inter-Studio DanceSport festival of a Rock N’ Roll section. We are working with Rock N’ Roll clubs from all areas of the north island (Including Wellington) to get this exciting format included into our event. There will be four age groups, two rhythm sections (Slow and Fast), and two levels of performance including Lifts and No Lifts. Rock N’ Roll like our Ballroom industry was shaken hard by the Covid pandemic and this is just another way that our business-to-business model will help launch both our industries from the base up and help fuel other levels of competition.
Round 2 of the Inter-Studio DanceSport Festival Dance list is now available through your studios, on Socials (Including the Ballroom Dance Informer) or by email [email protected] and we will send it to you directly.

Hi Everyone!!
Thank you very much for all your patience whilst we managed to get our new (Industry Wide) online app for DanceSport competitions in New Zealand finally Up and Running!
Tina and I have been working on this with the developers for some months now and are so very proud that we have been able to take the current industry standard for online entries covering Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Ballet and many other styles and bring Ballroom dancing into it as well. This transition to the web-based app was certainly not easy as Ballroom Dancing comes with some very complex issues that we managed to resolve after many conversations and the ability to teach our web developers how our industry actually works!
Some of you will be very familiar with the App and some of you will look at this for the first time and as expected, feel a little overwhelmed but, as with all things that are worthwhile, we all need to educate ourselves and our students on this system as this is clearly the way forward for online entries, instant result sharing (Once events go live), point system based awards and industry-wide connectivity.
So, let’s jump into the future together and get started!

As I know people do not read big emails if nothing else please take note of the following:
1) Please make sure you complete “My Registered Soloists / Groups Members” First. Everyone must register including Teachers, Students.
2) Enter anyone who is going to dance with you in the “My registered DUO / TRIO Partners. Anyone who has registered under your studio name will show up in the drop-down box. If they don’t appear, ask your partner to register as above.
3) STUDIO OWNERS Please go ahead and register your Studio details. We have pre-listed some studios (You will find your studio in the drop-down box)
4) Now you’re ready to enter. So, go back to the main page and scroll down to BLUE TAB saying ENTER NOW
5) SELECT CLASSES
Click on your name and enter the classes (Events) you want to enter.
Once you have selected every event you want to enter, click the go back button at the top left of the page and go back to SELECT CLASSES.
6) COMMON
Compulsory Admin fees should already be selected as default.
7) SUBMISSION
Click on the Green Bar “Proceed – Review Entry Details”
You are now on the Entry Details page “PLEASE ALLOW FOR UPTO TWO MINUTES FOR PAGE TO FULLY LOAD”
1) ENTRY DETAILS
You will see a clock against your entry…Click on the clock to confirm your entry in this event (Very important!) Repeat for all events with a clock and the clock will turn into a Tick.
2) Submit
Click the Green Button to take you to the Payment portion of your registration and you are done.
A few notes on our entry system.
The system is run on scripts that fire every few minutes and sort all dances into order and work out if they are in or on the waitlist. Then a further script to show the buttons runs every minute. This means depending on when you click there are delays in buttons appearing. It also means you may get to the dance details and some dances you clicked have not been sorted and shown yet. Dont panic. Just wait and they will appear. If you are worried you can go back to enter now.
