Early last year I was approached to create a mural for the Papakāinga Homestead at the Beattie Home in Ōtorohanga.

After many, many months of planning, prepping and bringing the idea to life, it is now installed at its forever home 🏡

The 'Tree of Life' is an ongoing project where residents are invited to leave their handprint on the tree branches so their time at the Home is acknowledged for years to come.

I am incredibly grateful to have been offered this opportunity. It could not have been done without funding received from the Otorohanga Charitable Trust Inc and support from my people 💛

Guys, we did it! 😭

I am so incredibly grateful and blown away with all the love and support received for my stained glass raffle ♥️

Thanks to your generosity the goal of $500 (and more) was made before the day came to an end! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Gumboot Fund, providing the youth of New Zealand access to counselling services.

Lucky ticket number 1 belonging to Layne Kerr was the winner!

⭐️ UPDATE: All tickets are sold! ⭐️

Hey team 👋🏻 thought it was about time to expand to Facebook and there’s no better time than for Gumboot Friday!

Most of you would have already seen the video circulating from Mike King on The Rock’s Morning Rumble discussing the lack of funding and support within New Zealand’s Mental Health system.

Personally, I have experienced the lack of resources and funding on numerous occasions when reaching out for help. I Am Hope and the Gumboot Fund helps to fill these gaps by providing free and timely counselling for youth under 25.

I have been fortunate enough to receive funding for Counselling through the Gumboot Fund and have been wanting to give back in the hopes of allowing someone else to have the same opportunity.

Over the last couple of years I have fell in love with creating stained glass art. I wanted to combine this with my appreciation for Gumboot Friday, so I came up with a glass garden stake.

I’m perfecting the last touches tonight so will share a picture of the completed piece once done!

There are 100 tickets available, $5 each so that’s a $500 donation!

Getting back into one of my favourite hobbies of painting but with a new and different medium- Vinyls. Each vinyls songs or colours sparks an idea, feeling or memory that I translate into a painting ✨

I have a fond memory of my Nana dancing with her walking frame in the sunshine to one of her favourite songs included on this record

I took this memory and created a warm park bench sunset to show the love and happiness this moment created for myself, and the peace and youth it brought back for my Nana 🍃

After over 6 months debating with myself, Ive finally taken the leap to start something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

Today is already an incredibly special day to me, so there’s no better time to share what I’ve been working on.

I’ll start off with a quick backstory of the name; Meraki Creations. Meraki is a Greek word that I came across years ago meaning: ‘to do something with soul, creativity, or love. To put something of yourself into your work’ which I am proud to have always prided myself in. Creations is self explanatory, I’ll be sharing my various types of craft work, some that are relatively new but all done with the same love and passion I have always had.

Meraki Creations also matches up to my initials which was coincidental! The monarch butterfly to me, represents change and renewal which I’ve had to do a lot of recently. It’s also one of my signs from my Angels which is how I knew I had to include it.

I’ll be sharing more soon, I have so many amazing ideas and am glad I’ve finally stepped out to begin them all.
