The Hebridean Baker, Coinneach MacLeod

His recipes are hardy, traditional and heavy on the booze - and they've made the self-styled Hebridean Baker, Coinneach MacLeod, an international culinary sensation.

Irish traditional music at its best, in Hamilton!
TOM DELANY AND CAROLINE KEANE
Playing Irish traditional music on concertina and uilleann pipes, this young, energetic duo boasts musical expression beyond their years. Their playing stands as a powerful embodiment of tradition, coupled with sheer musical passion.
Caroline and Tom both grew up in houses filled with traditional music. From a young age, Caroline was exposed to the richness of West Limerick and Sliabh Luachra traditional music, an influence which has become the cornerstone of her uniquely vibrant, passionate and emotive style of concertina playing. With an Irish father and French mother, Tom gained his musicality through osmosis, born and raised in a rich environment of Irish music. Inspired by the traveling style of piping, his rhythmic playing is powerful and daring.
Since they began playing together in 2010, while both studying at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. Tom and Caroline have toured extensively, performing around Europe, Canada and America.
Their music reflects their personalities, fun, vibrant and filled with heart and soul.
They will be joined in this gig with the inimitable JON SANDERS who has consistently wowed us with his playing over the past decade.

French Dance Workshop - 5.30pm & World Music Concert -7.30pm

Friday 12th June

Guest artists from France......for the first time in New Zealand

Dance Tutor - Johann Abadie

France is full of history and different

cultures, and every little region has got

its own kind of dance & its own way of

dancing. What is called ‘traditional’ is

typical from a specific region. What is called ‘folk’ here, is more something popular,

danced all over the country and sometimes even out of France. This presentation offers

selected popular dances from regional France with an expert tutor.

Musicians - I Fratelli Tarzanelli

The Frenchies Pablo and Baltazar created their duo in

2007: Baltazar brings his Hungarian influence, his talent

as an improviser, and his very personal way of making his

instrument resonate. Pablo brings his Italian influences,

his steady rhythmical accompaniment and his range of

basses, perfectly sustaining the violin, and keeping a

very lively contact with the dance and the dancers. They will take you on a trip, and will

make you laugh, cry, and dance. Relax, and let them invite you into their universe..."

with local favourites from Hamilton........

World Voices and the Kiwi Caucasians
