Riverlea Theatre For over 40 years, Riverlea Theatre has been in the heart of the Hamilton community. Riverlea is proud to be a truly local and independent theatre.

We are independently owned and are proud to be the home of Stagecraft Theatre School, Hamilton Playbox and Hamilton Musical Theatre | Te Pouhere Puuoro Puuwhakaari. Over 3500 people use our venue each year - mostly locally produced and cast productions but also some touring and international performances. We also provide a theatre school on site, 'Stagecraft', in partnership with Trust Waikato. Every afternoon of the week during term time there are students of all ages on site learning a range of theatrical skills, culminating in a performance around September each year. Our two resident societies, who are based at Riverlea, produce regular musical theatre (Hamilton Musical Theatre) and plays ranging from light comedy to thought-provoking dramas and everything in between (Hamilton Playbox). Other regular users include the Scouts for their Gang Shows and the Hamilton Competitions Society for their annual events. We also have a wardrobe hire service and are proud to offer a wide range of costumes for hire to the public at very reasonable prices. If you are looking for a venue for classes or performances, or wanting to hire a costume for your next party, give us a call.

It’s not just Wyrd - it’s absolutely Wonderful!

Terry Pratchett grabs Shakespeare’s Macbeth, gives it a cheeky cosmic twist, and cranks it up to eleven until the k**b flies off. You’ll find everything you love - mischievous dukes and duchesses, spooky royals, muddle-headed soldiers, quirky strolling players, and a whole kingdom teetering on the edge.

"A dazzling imagination, a storytelling wizard like no other, and a true master of the written word."

Come and see Hamilton Playbox take to the stage in this wayward event. Tickets available from www.iticket.co.nz/events/2026/oct/wyrd-sisters

WHAT'S 'DIS!' ALL ABOUT?

Disenchanted! began with creator Dennis T. Giacino’s fascination with the real Pocahontas. From there, the idea grew into an award-winning musical comedy, making its Off-Broadway debut in 2014. 👑✨
