Hokonui Moonshiners' Festival The Hokonui Moonshiners' Festival, held every two years is Southland’s premier outdoor heritage food, music and whiskey event. Tickets are limited.

The Hokonui Moonshiners’ Festival is a must-attend music and food event held biannually in Gore, Southland, New Zealand. Held in Gore’s Arts & Heritage Precinct, this festival highlights the time-honoured traditions of early Highland Scottish settlers - flaunting Southland’s early prohibition laws and making their own illicit whisky in the Hokonui Hills. ocker Diesel, known for hits like Tip of My Tongue and Come to Me. Kiwi acts the Warratahs, The Nukes and Dunedin band Bulletproof Convertible open the Festival, completing six hours of continuous music. Moonshine

Sampling a shot of Hokonui moonshine is a must at this event! Try either the sweet Hokonui Honey moonshine liqueur, or the Manuka smoked Old Hokonui Moonshine, a unique blend made in the heart of Southland, with spring water from the Hokonui Hills. Entry to the Hokonui Moonshine Museum, which is located within the heritage precinct is included in the ticket price. Food

A variety of food stalls complement this event, with many offering Southern fare and heritage-themed food. Beverage tents will offer a range of beer, Central Otago wines, and of course ‘Hokonui Moonshine’ spirits and liqueurs. It’s a popular day out for locals and attracts visitors from far and wide, so be sure to secure tickets early.

Yay - its Festival Day! The beer/wine/whiskey will be flowing, the food will be sizzling, the music will be pumping and the sun will be shining. Come and join the party. Dress warm but bring your sunhat. You can still buy tickets online at the cheaper price of $40+BF, or just rock up and pay at the gate - $50pp. See you at noon when the fun begins - Hokonui Drive, Gore.

It's Moonshine Fest week - only 4 days to go until Gore's biggest outdoor summer party, this Saturday from 12-6pm. Check out the delicious food lineup from our talented Southern chefs. Food prices range from $3 - $10. Bring a hearty appetite and graze all day - yum!

Hey Invercargill! Did you know that you can also buy Moonshine Fest tickets from Bill Richardson Transport World on Tay Street. They are only $40 +BF, which is cheaper than buying them at the gate on festival day ($50). Did you also see there is a bus for festival goers from Invercargill to Gore return. Catch the Moonshine Bus!
If you are coming to the festival from Invercargill, you can catch the Moonshine Fest bus. Its a return trip, only $20 per person.
The bus leaves Invercargill from outside the Tuatara Backpackers on Dee Street at 10.30am.
The return trip leaves Gore from outside Gore Visitor Centre at 6.30pm.
