Hey guys,, next wee project, not something I would normally do, but for a really good client I will do it.An outdoor table that has to be completely stripped down,legs off, and completely dismantled,, original finish taken off, resanded, recoloured and reassembled... not a 5 minute job,, but I will get there.. cheers all have a great weekend.... Hey guys,,, next little...Tidy up.project..7 or 8 years ago,I completely remodeled my on suite,off our bedroom,,,tore out everything,, but I did keep the 1970's style shower tray,, and here is what I did with it....beat it, panel bashed it, flattened it, ground it, polished it, and now I have... custom made, almost 3d element covers for our stove top,,,316 stainless.... awesome... amazing what you can do with what most people would consider rubbish...I can turn my hand to almost anything... cheers all have a great weekend.,. Hey guys, another wee project out of the way,, the timber is good old nz poplar which is very soft and not something I would normally use, however it is for a customers project.Got to tell you it was no fun, the timber is inherently full of hairline cracks, soft spots,and random hard spots, did the best I could and actually turned out not to bad,, sanded down to 200 grit and 3 coats of tinted linseed oil, cheers all have a great weekend.. Hey guys, I know that it's been a while.About 18 months ago a lady approached me to do a job for her,, she cut down a tree (poplar)on her mum and dads property,who have sadly passed on,I have had 4 pieces of the timber drying out in my drying area for that time,now it's good to go,,I have been given "artistic license"to do what I want,,so far 2 bowls done,,1 standard and 1 'live edge', and now onto the 'artistic'one.. looking good so far... cheers all have a great week... Hey guys and girls, been super busy this 'offshift',,, doing upholstery for Seams'n'Stitches., and then turning down 100+ year old Rimu and some karri(Australian hardwood),to make toilet roll and paper towel holders for a really good client of mine, all sanded down to 600 grit, burnished then polished, and coated with linseed,, and then the next wee project...4 wee logs of 'poplar',which is softer than pine, and really hard to work with,,, but I will get there,, but now clean up the shed so Leanne can get her car back in,as I am away to work Tuesday...ohhh and 1 bowl done.. cheers all have a great week... Hey guys and girls,, another wee project done, some very old Rimu window frames from a very old villa, some Kaari(Australian hardwood,. that I got from...I don't know where),a couple of 3 hours on the lathe, sanded down to 600 grit, burnished, polished and sealed.my customer is very happy,. awesome.. cheers all have a great weekend... Hey guys and girls,, finished 1 wee project, towel and toilet roll holders (no pics yet... customer hasn't seen them yet), and onto the next one,,4 pieces of poplar (inherintly very soft timber), and my customer wants predominantly 'live edge' bowls,, this is going to be a challenge... cheers all have a great weekend... Hey guys and girls,, going to be a very busy 'offshift',got home from sea last night, and these jobs have been stacking up, time to get into it.Every piece is for a customer,4 pieces of poplar to be turned into bowls (I have had this timber here for over a year.. drying out).. really soft wood but will see what I can do,,and then some very old rimu window frames and a piece of Jarra (I think), for a really good client, and don't forget, stripping a chair for 'Seams n Stitches'.. never stops here,,I literally go back to work to get a break.. cheers all have a great week... Hey guys and girls,,photo 1 of what I am supposed to be doing, customers work, custom made bowls, toilet roll holders, paper towel holders, sanding down and refinishing tables,,, guess what I ended up doing,, working on my sons car, cutting out a small bit of rust in the wheel well,, cutting, grinding, welding, and finishing... just as well I am multi talented
