Last week to see Kia Ngawari at the Tairāwhiti Museum. Cruise in and have a look at the art by the awesome creatives in this show, who all live right here in Gisborne (and Uawa, yaass). This show offers prints, paintings and sculptures made by whānau and friends.
Don't forget to have a coffee and cheese scone at Exhibit Café while you're there, they're really good! The Museum is free entry for locals too ✨️ 🖤🌱

On Tuesday, February 3, work begins to undo changes on a controversial Gisborne street.

Kia ora, this weekend I will be giving a korero on Kia Ngāwari. All welcome but no pressure if you can't make it x

IT’S THIS WEEKEND, FRIENDS! It’s been a mixed summer for some (😕) but Friends of Tairāwhiti Museum is celebrating the good stuff with its Summer Series of artist talks. First up THIS SATURDAY (2pm) is the wonderful Melanie Tahata, who plans to discuss how she pulled together the work of a dozen artists to curate the Kia Ngāwari exhibition. It’s free (for locals), it’s fun, and we’d love to see you there! 😀❤️ https://www.nzherald.co.nz/gisborne-herald/news/summer-series-artist-talks-start-at-gisbornes-museum-this-weekend/T2AJSLYVLRHANCWFUFGG75XDWA/

Some of the artists are connected through whakapapa and toi, some through art practices and specifically, printmaking. Similar themes across all twelve artists resonate with … whānau, taiao and kaitiekitanga.
