Hei apopo x

IT’S THIS WEEKEND, FRIENDS! Printmaking is, indeed, 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration and at 2pm this Saturday, August 29 we get to learn just how much sweat-equity went into the Gisborne Printmakers’ 50th-anniversary show, Mahi Tahi. Join us for the second in the Friends of Tairāwhiti Museum’s winter series of artist talks, when – after an intro from group matriarch Jean Johnston (pictured) – the eight (count ‘em!) printmakers in the gallery will tell us about what inspired their pieces in the exhibition, and how they made them. It’s going to be a good one (especially for you technique-heads) so nau mai, haere mai . . . the talks are open to all, they’re free, they’re fun, and we’d love to see you there! 😀❤️

“Kāhui Tara is a visual articulation of whakaaro formed through the imagining of Takapau: a style of peha design created uniquely and exclusively for wahine.”
Incredible, powerful this is Ngaire Tuhua. Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Whātua.
The exhibition Kāhui Tara opens this evening.

Introducing PANGU ✨

Same kaupapa. Same purpose
A renewed identity for the direction ahead.

“At its centre of this logo concept is the Kopito Whakarua, a form honouring everything wahine: strength, intuition,
creation, and the inherent power carried through generations.
The typeface is feminine and refined, with a thin, elegant structure. The letter “A” subtly mimics the diamond form of the icon, creating visual harmony and reinforcing unity
between name and symbol”.

Thank you, Nikki , for your time, precision, and for bringing this vision to life.

Nau mai ngā hua ✨

This body of work documents my personal response to the Night. And how the taiao comes alive when we are all 😴 💤
This was a great opportunity for tamariki to interact with parts of the taiao they never get to see. Stars. Moon. How everything keeos living and breathing, when you are tucked in bed at night 🌙 😴 🖤💤💤💤💫

Morena, please follow the niece's page as she tries to navigate studying uni and coming out debt free.
It ain't easy out there for our kids right now. Our children will always be the biggest and bestest creative achievement of our lives x
