Time to celebrate the life and creations of this extraordinary woman!
Yayoi Kusama has dotted her last dot at the age of 97.
Over the centuries women have fitted their art into the cracks of their lives, once the washing is in and the kids are in bed and the work deadlines are met.
And mostly their work has been sidelined, often invisible and ignored.
But despite huge disadvantages, Yayoi is the most superb inspiration, busting all kinds of barriers. And on her own terms. Prioritising her very rich inner life.
Just extraordinary.

Not just a market!
Nga mihi, greetings to all our new followers as we celebrate our tenth tour. We're so glad you found us!
Here at the She Shed, women artists from Gisborne's northern beaches throw open the doors of our studios and invite you into our special and very personal spaces, the spaces where the magic happens.
On SUNDAY NOVEMBER 15TH, join us to
* explore our studios and gardens
* meet the artists in their natural habitat
* talk with the guest artists who have joined this special collective
* buy original pieces direct from the makers
This year, our tenth, there are new venues, new artists and some special features.
It's a day of creativity and discovery, with food venues along the way and where the ticket and stallholder fees support local charities and a scholarship for a young woman artist.
Tickets will be available soon through local outlets and from our artists.
Watch this space for the ticket release date!
Keep up to date with all our news here and on our Instagram page.
For this rare opportunity, step into our world of creativity on

Here at the She Shed, we're all about sharing. That's why the ticket and stallholders fees are given back to our wonderful community.
Each year, we support local charities and a young woman artist, by way of the Peggy Ericson She Shed Scholarship.
This tenth anniversary year Roofing has partnered with us to make a contribution to that Scholarship.
Thank you so much, Coastline Roofing! It's great to see local businesses getting behind us!
Coastline Roofing has followed in the generous footsteps of Bronwyn Kay Real Estate to make this year's Scholarship really special!
Looking forward to seeing you all on
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 15TH!

VIA NO 3!!!
The She Shed, this fabulous collection of women in art, keeps the celebrations up with our third Very Important Announcement.
As you enjoy the art we share with you by opening up our special personal spaces, you'll know that your ticket donations are put to great use.
This year, our tenth, we're doing a few new things. First, we're supporting three charities instead of one.
We've introduced you to the first two in previous posts, and here's the third, our first environmental charity.
Let us introduce you to the Whinray Ecological Charitable Trust!
Tucked away out at Motu, the trust aims to restore endangered wildlife including the North Island Brown Kiwi, the North Island Robin, the pekapeka ( the rare long-tailed bat) , whio (blue duck), karearea (NZ falcon).
They even run a creche for baby kiwi!
Alongside the Department of Conservation and community, the trust protects 2,000 hectares of virgin podocarp forest with intensive trapping relying on volunteer support and community donations.
The She Shed is proud to be working alongside Whinray!
