Happy horses on the hill tonight. Knee deep in grass & enjoying a view to Kapiti Is, Ruapehu & Taranaki. Six TBs. 5yo - 17yo. Some have raced, some haven't. Some might again, some are sporthorses on holiday. One ( maybe two🤞) are in foal to a coloured pony stallion. Another 8 TBs & Sachas old showhunter mare live in another group further down the farm. They're 2yo - 26yo.

Very exciting to see 3yo Bullet make his racing debut at Levin jumpouts today. Sach rode him. Unfortunately Bullet missed the jump & stood pondering life when the gates opened 😂. And not having galloped on a grass track before, he wasn't speedy round the corner. But once he straightened up, he looked terrific & flew home. Shades of his Mum - Cristal Bubble (aka Magic). Not bad for a tiny little newborn foal, who had to fight against the odds to survive...and chewed through lots of dollars with plasma transfusions!!

Two of our TBs enjoying a Contact Care treatment this morning from Elly Ease in Flow Equine - ConTact CARE

5yo Swiss enjoyed a full session. Nell spent the whole time trying to Bluetooth in 😀. So Elly gave her a mini session...with the promise of a full one next visit.

Tomorrow several of our team that are down at Meersbrooke Stables are also being treated.

The results from using Contact Care have been quite life changing for a number of horses we have. Others it's an important maintenance tool to keep them fit & happy.

Can't recommend Elly enough. The horses love her visits...and she treats humans too!

Cartago went to Otaire Sports today. Big thanks to Sacha & Sam for riding her. More ribbons for her collection! 3rd Maiden hack on the flat. 2nd Maiden Round the Ring jumping. 1st pairs Round the Ring.

Thoroughbreds showing their versatility yesterday. Cartago was showjumping at Tutaenui Sports. She's starting to really develop her technique. Meanwhile at home, two of our older TBs have been getting ready for a weekend trek to the top of the Ruahines, at the end of Jan. It's a trip we used to do when we had the farm in the Kawhatau and ran our horse trekking business. Our original pack horses have long since passed away...so Elucidate (Ellie) has stepped up to the role. She's taken everything in her stride. Alan's horse Chimes (by Savabeel) is 18 now & as perky as ever.
We have an assortment of retired TBs who live with Chimes & Ellie. Most we raced at some point, but not all. They enjoy a happy life in their little herd.

Danny (Rios/ Cartagena) had his first visit to a proper track today. Great to watch him working. Doing everything right. He's the chestnut with Sach on board.

2026 will be a year of change. Our farm here has sold & we move to another, not too far away, in February.

Meersbrooke Cartago 3rd show today at Feilding A&P. 4th in her 80cm class. Then stepped up to 90cm. She's starting to develop technique to go with her enthusiasm.

Some good results over the weekend for the small team!

Cleos Magic ran a solid second today at Waverley in the Summit Electrical 65 2200m.
Great thinking by Amber seen her get out from behind the front runners and flash home. Great to see her finding form!

Downtrou ran 6th at Trentham on Saturday in the Grant Plumbing 65 1600m starting a new prep.
I don't think we have been so happy to run a 6th before...
Jack (Downtrou) has been a work in progress. After the wheels fell of his last prep he fell apart.
There has been many quite hours gone back into Jack. Many phone calls, vet visits, body works, conversations, track chats, change in training techniques, feeding, double guessing, committing, moving forward, finding his confidence again, building him more resilient giving him back what he lost.
We have been given so much patience from Jack owners to do what we need to do to rebuild.

And a massive thank you to Sarah O'Malley for riding Jack yesterday and putting him in the fight. We try to keep instructions to a minimum but loaded Sarah up yesterday. She rode him picture perfect to what we ask.
Thank you Sarah!! You did an outstanding job on him.
Jack will strip fitter and build really nicely of this.
