It opened for business in 1928 and has been operated by the Otago Theatre Trust since 1973, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2003. The Regent Theatre is the region's premier, large-scale auditorium for performing arts and cinema for the people of Otago and visitors to Dunedin. The Regent is currently equipped to host live theatre, music and opera, dance, film, and festivals.

Sunday 23 August is the final day of NZ International Film Festival for the Regent! 🎬. We’re rounding out the festival with a full day of screenings - from a family favourite and breathtaking nature, to French comedy and an epic historical drama.
