I love the photo of her in the warm light in her house, it feels like it needs to be a painting (watch this space..?)

looking back to a workshop I did earlier this year for Clifton Park Museum for their Learning Disability Week event!

this was such a fun day, the sun was shining, there were loads of accessible sports, singing and dancing, and I had the best job of all of running the arts and crafts table all day!

I loved setting up the space before people arrived to try and make it feel as welcoming and inviting as possible (just the right level of chaos!)

The theme was “do you see me now” so some people created art based on their identity and homes, some made framed pictures, and some made collages and everything between!

this was a lovely day and I hope to do many more workshops like this 😊

some lovely workshops I’ve ran recently for !

I love facilitating workshops for the consortium, it’s always so lovely to meet new people and make cool stuff together, and I feel very lucky to get to do that as work!

another intuitive (although slightly pre-planned) painting i did recently 🪷

I loved adding the gold and some falling seeds - this came after i turned the painting around and realised I preferred it that way - and then it seemed to make sense for the seeds to be falling off the end of these electrical looking gold wires/seed antennae(*?!)

* must check what the actual word for those are later..

WIP
I’m really enjoying slowly working on this over the weeks and adding to it when I feel like it..

I’m not sure I’ve ever made art ‘intuitively’ before as I’ve always been so hung up on using references and trying to accurately document things, but am trying to move past all that and trust my instincts (and follow what feels fun!) - and therefore find my way closer to my own style???

I’m working on 3 of these square canvases at a time that I painted with the cheapest acrylic paint from the works as a background (which is also helping me to be less of a perfectionist / worry less about “wasting” materials), this is my attempt at re-parenting but as an art teacher, re-teaching..

will be sharing more artsy bits alongside workshop updates :)

wishing everyone a safe and joyful pride this month! ❤️🌿

it’s a scary time for the q***r community right now, especially for trans femmes that are facing the discriminative supreme court ruling on women being defined by their biological s*x.. 🤢

that’s why charities such as are so important, providing free and accessible workshops *all year round* to LGBTQIA+ folks, these safe spaces are so important to keep funding and protecting.

i’m really proud of the work they do and to get to run workshops for them ❤️
my next workshop is tomorrow - this one is sold out but there are plenty more workshops happening if you missed out this time (link in their bio) 😊

when you rock up to the next workshop & your facilitator looks like this (though slightly less now i’ve buzzed my hair off!!) 🌵💗

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s workshop, we’ll be using old t shirts (B.Y.O.!) & material scraps to create cute bag charms / earrings, whatever you fancy! I love making and using t-shirt yarn to turn ratty moth holed tops into a nice (and sustainable, cheap!) craft 🎽

New logo! 👶🏼

Very similar to the old one that I made using a draw-yourself template back in 2020… but this time with my new hair and favourite top!

I’m creating leaflets for an accessible craft workshop I’m running next month in Rotherham for learning disability week as it’s work I really love doing, and am so excited to be doing more of it 😊

a return back to calling this all “art-stuff” !! ⭐️

i’ve decided to use this as a general arty crafty painting bits page again as i realised i stop posting when i set myself strict restrictions for a page/anything (cue imminent adhd diagnosis🤞🏼)
so here we are!

first to celebrate this newfound looseness is a WIP handmade t-shirt yarn rug aka homemade reusable tinsel!!
- other uses include but are not limited to: skipping rope for a lively 5 year old.

like it says on the tin, the t shirt ‘yarn’ is made from tying together strips of old t shirts that are past wearing, that are then plaited together to form a long thread that is sewn together (such as in pic 3)

this has been an ongoing evening project since graduating where i needed something to keep myself busy (and use up old tops) while waiting to hear back from endless job applications..

will it ever be a rug?

I had such a wonderful time last week running my first workshop under my new name ‘Funky Ears’ for Leeds LGBTQ+ Community Consortium 😊🌈

It was such a lovely atmosphere & I loved sharing my methods for making affordable, lightweight & lovingly wonky earrings! 👂🏼
