Harriet Moir - Entertainer / MC

Harriet Moir - Entertainer / MC Celebrant / Comedian / Creative / Connector / Chameleon Hey you! Welcome to my page. I get such a kick out of you being here. Either way, s'ok. Least of all me.

I can’t tell you exactly what this page is about, because I don’t exactly know myself yet. But I can tell you it is about everything and nothing and it’ll be every bit honest. The ups and the downs, the nooks and crannies and everything else in between. There’ll be highlights of my performing antics (or perhaps they can be more accurately described as low lights – you decide), insights on being a

solo parent, observations on the absurdity/awesomeness of it all and just whatever else I feel inclined to over share about. Some of it will be important but most of it won't. Some of it will make you laugh, cringe and choke on your cornflakes and some of it will possibly even see you reaching for the tissues. There will be stuff you will relate to and stuff you won't. We can still be friends. Obviously, the haters gonna hate BUT before you post something icky maybe just consider stepping away. No one is forcing you to like my page, read my stuff or agree with what I have to say. (Ok mum?). Most importantly, please know that by expressing an opinion or sharing something about my life, I am in no way passing judgement on yours. You please yourself. So move over Kim K, there's a new girl in town. Raw, racey, ridiculous and always real.

Super proud to be working with Hic Sunt Dracones with their steadfast commitment to accessibility.

We’re running a TOUCH TOUR of the play on Thursday July 2 at 6.30pm for anyone who is interested.

They’ll also be rolling out a social story to give people an idea of what to expect when they arrive at the venue, which is also fully accessible.

And not only that, they’ve given this dream role to an actor with a severe voice disorder and have been nothing but supportive and accomodating of this from the get go.

More of this please!

Thanks Kim Morgan and Matthew Morgan. Love your work.

Pretty chuffed to be collaborating with this super star muso Shannon Burnett in NICOLA CHEESEMAN IS BACK which opens next week!

Not only is she a multi talented rock star but she’s also been feeding me lines for the last week or so because holy s**t, there’s a lot of them.

Doing a one person show is quite intimidating so it’s very comforting to know Shannon will be right there beside me 😍

Nicola knows that live music is where it’s at… 🎶

HSD is chuffed to present the amazing musician who will underscore and accompany Nic’s epic quest to reform her punk band, the Cherry Slits.

Shannon Burnett is a dynamic emerging performer and musician based in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Her creative practice spans theatre, songwriting and stage presence. She was selected for the prestigious Six60 Scholarship — a scheme that offers mentoring from the acclaimed band Six60 plus access to university recording studios — for her musical theatre studies and indie songwriting work.

On stage, Shannon has undertaken the lead role of Astrid in “Crunchy Silk” at the Globe Theatre, as well as Anna in “Spring Awakening” (the musical) for Pop-Up Productions. Shannon composed original music and performed in this summer’s “Shakespeare in Song” concert in Dunedin Botanic Garden (album forthcoming), and also played multiple instruments in the live band for The Globe’s Dunedin Sound take on “Twelfth Night”. And last year, she was one of the featured singers for Dunedin Symphony Orchestra’s “Simply the Best” concert.

A recent graduate of the University of Otago Contemporary Performance programme, Shannon is poised at the intersection of performance and music creation in Dunedin. She represents an exciting new wave of local artists who refuse to stay comfortably inside the lines, and are carving space for fresh voices and bold expression in Aotearoa's southern creative scene.

Shannon brings her ability to perform, to work with music and sound, and her ability to live and breathe art to the forefront of all she does.

Welcome Shannon, and rock on! 🤘🎸🥁 🎹 🍒

The best thing about working for a production company, and not just yourself, is having a team of brilliant people to wrap around and you support you and bring the work to life. So grateful to everyone working so hard to get this baby off the ground.

The second best thing is the lovely, lovely things they say about you on the internet.

Thank you Hic Sunt Dracones for this phenomenal opportunity 🙏😘

Nicola Cheeseman is bursting to tell you all about her life. But first, let's meet the amazing woman who is embodying her to perfection...

Harriet Moir is frank, fresh and f* # talented. She lives in Dunedin with her two daughters and their ginger p***y, where she works as a comedian, writer, wedding and funeral celebrant, MC, actor, singer, writer, producer and entertainer. Mercifully not all at the same time. 😮‍💨

Harriet is well known to Dunedin audiences from many appearances with Musical Theatre Dunedin, Taieri Musical, Suitcase Theatre Company, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Otago. She recently won the Outstanding Performance / Female Lead Role at the Dunedin Theatre Awards (2025) for her part in Birds of a Feather’s ‘Every Brilliant Thing’.

Harriet was named Best Comedian at the Dunedin Comedy Awards (2025). She has opened for some of New Zealand’s biggest names, and internationally renowned comedian Ed Byrne. She produces stand-up comedy around the South Island and has multiple award winning solo shows under her belt, including ‘Dear Stalker’ and ‘Just Eat the Damn Sausage’ (winner of Best Comedy and NZ Tour Award at Dunedin Fringe, and nominated for Best Newcomer at NZ Comedy Festival).

If that weren't enough (phew!), Harriet is also the founder of W.E.E. Treat, a women’s empowerment retreat held on Quarantine Island twice a year since 2021. AND she hosts a new podcast on OAR called "Tell me Moir", featuring unfiltered, raucous chats with brilliant local women. This woman rocks!

HSD is truly honoured to welcome Harriet into the fold, and to collaborate with this stunningly talented human to bring this hilariously relatable play to life.
