We want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who contributed to our Mumumental - Comedy Benefit this past Saturday. It takes a community to put together a fundraiser show, and the Ōtepoti-Dunedin community really showed up for this one.

A very heartfelt thank you to:

New Athenaeum Theatre and Ellie Swann, Martin Swann, and Sahara Pohatu-Trow for hosting us, running the box office, and donating their tech skills. We can plan whatever we want, but there’s literally no show without a venue, and The NAT consistently proves their dedication to the betterment of Ōtepoti-Dunedin.

Meg Hartigan, Caitlin Owen, and Reuben Crisp for their time and attention to detail in producing this event. A special thanks to Reuben for his graphic design work on our poster.

Caroline L. Bathory and Light of Juno for the amazing photographs. Caroline shows up for us time and time again, providing such beautiful craftsmanship.

Our performers:

It's Nicola Brown, our MC, brought hilarity and professionalism alike. Thank you for wrangling us crazy kids.

To Meg Hartigan, Philip Plant, Caitlin Owen, Reuben Crisp, and Harriet Moir - Entertainer / MC, a genuine thank you for dedicating your creativity and humour to an important cause.

And thank you to Jimmy James for having the idea for this show in the first place.

Our generous donors:

Relics Music Dunedin
ADJØ
Pardal Hair Studio
Inch Bar
Finders Keepers Boutique Dunedin
And our anonymous donor

One of the most difficult parts of putting together a raffle is asking people for donations. Not one of these businesses hesitated in helping, and for that we sing your praises.

Because of your generosity, we were able to raise $900 for the Ōtepoti-Dunedin Whānau Refuge, an amazing organisation that does very important mahi.

We extend our gratitude to you all. This show (and many others) would not be possible without the comedy whānau that has grown here in Ōtepoti-Dunedin. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Onto the next one!

These spirited cake yearners once endured long days of unfruitful uncertainty. But thanks to your generous patronage, they now enjoy a nutritious daily breakfast of lamingtons, croissants, and other baked goods.

Thank you for making their livelihoods a possibility.

Struttin' to the stage tomorrow night is Meg Hartigan. The only thing more colourful than her fashion sense is her vocabulary. And she'll use both with intent. There are many ways to describe her style of comedy. Some might say storyteller. Some might say observational. Most will agree she’s three screaming goats in a trench coat just trying to figure out what’s for dinner.

Silly, sarcastic, and undeniably unapologetic, Meg is the kind of person who will absolutely take you down... but only if you deserve it. Expect big energy, sharp takes, and jokes that sparkle before they sting.

Please welcome Caitlin Owen to our Mumumental - Comedy Benefit lineup!

Born and bred in Dunedin, Caitlin brings smart, sharp comedy with a political bite. She’s a regular at benefit gigs and solidarity shows, lending her voice (and her jokes) to causes that matter, including Voices for Palestine, Laughter is the Breast Medicine, and community fundraisers for the Bowling Club and Mount Cargill Trust. Caitlin brings laughs that punch in the right direction and on the right side of history, whether she’s skewering the news or roasting awkward moments from her own past.

Winner, Breakout Talent – Dunedin Comedy Awards 2025

Another weekly Wednesday winner!

The clear champion of the night was James for keeping the fire going while the heat pump was on the fritz. And thanks Will Murphy for the shout out in the latest Critic Te Ārohi

Joining us this Saturday is local legend, Jimmy James, better known to many as Jimmy the Dwarf!

You might recognise Jimmy from C4’s award-winning Jono’s New Show or his viral music video Little Jimmy, but live on stage is where he truly shines. With nearly a decade in comedy and on-camera performance, Jimmy brings fearless energy, quick crowd work, and larger-than-life presence.

From playing leprechauns and bouncers to stunt doubling in major feature films, Jimmy’s career has taken him around New Zealand and across the globe, performing in over 28 countries (and counting).

Please welcome to the lineup, Philip Plant. We love him and you will, too!

He's not your garden variety comedian. This plant arranges wit, careful observation, and joyful hatred into a bouquet of buffoonery that may leave you dazed and/or confused.

He has won awards for best joke and for pushing boundaries at the Dunedin comedy awards. You may not get it at first, but he'll definitely grow on you.

Meet our headliner for the Mum-umental Comedy Fundraiser.

Frank, fresh and f* # talented, Harriet Catherine Moir lives in Dunedin with her two daughters and their ginger p***y, where she works as a comedian, writer, wedding and funeral celebrant, MC, actor, singer, writer, producer and entertainer. Mercifully not all at the same time.

Harriet is emerging as a successful stand-up comedian having opened for some of New Zealand’s biggest names in comedy and internationally renowned comedian Ed Byrne in 2024. She regularly produces comedy around the South Island and she has four award-winning solo comedy shows under her belt. Her most recent show Dear Stalker was nominated for Best Comedy Award at the 2026 Dunedin Fringe Festival.
