We were absolutely stoked to share it with such superb, engaged, lively audiences and also absolutely stoked to receive a rave review like the one we’re posting here. STOP PRESS Our Dunedin Fringe Festival production of A Man Walks Into A Bar really _will_ be in a bar! The DCC / District Licensing Committee have, of just a few minutes ago, granted us a special event license! So in addition to the menu and non-alcoholic drinks Modaks Espresso will be serving (show up and eat up!) we will now be serving a range of wine and beer. Come and support us, tickets are selling hard-out (we’re technically sold out for two shows!) but door sales may be possible!

Thursday night, as part of Dunedin Fringe Festival, we open A Man Walks Into A Bar at Modaks Espresso! Book at the link below in comments. It’s a surreal comedy in a bar, so Modaks is opening the doors early each day of the show so you can get refreshments. Why not have some dinner and drinks, as Modaks becomes our ‘bar’ for the evening? 6.30pm doors on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the 8pm shows; 3pm Sunday for the 4.30pm show. Come along and let’s eat, drink and be merry!

Introducing our stellar cast for A Man Walks Into A Bar, opening this week at Modaks Espresso as part of Dunedin Fringe Festival: Cheyne Jenkinson!

Cheyne Jenkinson is an Ōtepoti/Dunedin-based actor, raconteur and Renaissance gentleman. He was recently nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Male Role at the Dunedin Theatre Awards 2024, an award that he has won in previous years.

He is a proud graduate of NASDA/Ara, and has performed professionally on both sides of the Tasman, including touring Australia and New Zealand with Echelon Productions. He is lucky enough to have worked with many of Dunedin’s leading theatre companies and many projects that have captured his heart. This is his second production with dollhouse, having previously appeared in Stupid F**king Bird.

Introducing our stellar cast for A Man Walks Into A Bar, opening this week at Modaks Espresso as part of Dunedin Fringe Festival: Mārama Grant!

Mārama is an Ōtepoti/Dunedin based actor, singer, director, vocal coach and drama teacher. She was recently the winner of Outstanding Performance in a Female Role at the Dunedin Theatre Awards 2024, and additionally part of the award-winning Ensemble, also at the Dunedin Theatre Awards 2024.

She has performed professionally for over 25 years across many styles and genres. She has appeared for The Court Theatre, The Fortune Theatre, Eagle’s Nest Theatre Co(AU), Canterbury Opera, Music Theatre Dunedin, Taieri Musical Society, Opera Otago, Suitcase Theatre Co. and Prospect Park Productions, and in three Melbourne Fringe Festivals. This is her third production with dollhouse having previously appeared first in The Many Deaths of Jeff Goldblum, and then Stupid F**king Bird, both in 2023. Mārama is a Mum to one crazy child and loves Shakespeare, jazz and cats.
