Hilltop Gardens and Studio

Hilltop Gardens and Studio Hilltop gardens were established from a clay hill coveted in ti tree by Kath and Lou Bagby in 1977.

After 15 years with the garden being a little untended Bev and Darryl Bagby are looking after it. Bev now is opening her gallery, The Bees Knees Gallery from her home in Spring 2020. This will allow her to showcase her new work while still continuing to work in oils, acrylic and watercolour.

Weekend creativity

Saturday, Northland, New Zealand. Cloudy, cool morning - had to kick start the fire and now all cosy. Studio today to work with some eco dyed fabrics and creating some cushions. Later in the day I will be putting down a new batch of dyeing to work on some more pouches and bags. Its wonderful to use natural elements to create beautiful, usable treasures. The work that I am doing with fabrics is for me a combination of all my painting and printmaking skills to create treasures that are usable. I love that I can design, create and make something that is usable, washable and artistically beautiful. There is so much in our world today that is disposable, so being able to re use, dye and re create gives me a sense of satisfaction that I am not adding waste to our world.
