Charlene Scott's art work comes from the heart with a deep connection to Papatuanuku. An expert painter, she has now moved to clay as her main medium of expression and the expertise continues to shine through with themes of the Feminine. During The Arts Tour she will be setting up a studio in the heart of town at the old BNZ building along with with two other artists. This month's Coromind magazine has a terrific article on Charlene, her work and philosophy so grab it while you can. You can also learn more from the website www.coromandelartstour.co.nz 😀

Beth Pearsall is another very talented ceramic artist based at the Colville Cafe for the Arts Tour in October. She takes inspiration from her love of the outdoors in particular the ocean . The colours and form of the sea and shore are clearly evident in her lovely work. This will be the first Arts Tour for Beth . We feel fortunate to have her with us. More about Beth at our website www.coromandelartstour.co.nz

Peridot Mawson is one of two dedicated potters based at the Colville Cafe during The Coromandel Arts tour. Although she has spent a lot of her life around potters she has only recently taken pottery up as a hobby and is achieving wonderful results with both throwing and handbuilding. She mixes commercial and wild local clay to produce funky decorative pieces with a sense of fun. Visitors who travel the scenic road to Colville for the Arts Tour on the first two weekends in October are in for a real treat at the Colville cafe. In 2006 a small group of artists in Coromandel and Colville decided to organise the very first Coromandel Open Studios Arts Tour. It was a bit of a risk starting from scratch with very little funding and no idea how many visitors would make the trip to our isolated but special region.
