While in the midst of rebranding my much-loved firstborn, Smitten With Love this year, I fell head-over-heels for a new kind of storytelling - live illustration… and then, quite literally, fell pregnant with our second baby.
It’s been a rough five months with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, and with such a small energy bank to draw from, I’ve made the decision to gently press pause for the foreseeable on my wedding stationery work. It’s important to me that every couple receives the attention and care they deserve, and for my own wellbeing, I need to focus on the parts of my life that bring buckets of joy and reward.
Over this past year, my passion for illustration, and for connecting with people in person has flourished. With a beautifully full season ahead for Drawn Events and family life to balance, this is where my creative energy now belongs.
Being pregnant with HG and caring for a lively two-and-a-half-year-old has been incredibly tough. There’s been hospital time, hydration treatments, and a lot of horizontal days. I couldn’t have made it through without the unwavering support of my family and friends.
To my wonderful couples, industry pals, and incredible suppliers from the past 9 years - THANK YOU. You helped me turn a love of paper into something truly special. Smitten With Love was launched one summer seven years ago, and since then I’ve had the privilege of working with over 500 clients - each one a story on paper I’ll never forget.
Though the stationery designs are quiet for now, you’ll still find me sketching stories, capturing style, and creating keepsakes under my other brand, Drawn Events. It’s the same heart, just a different medium.
Thank you for being part of this chapter.
Forever and Always,
Kimberley McLachlan
