The Clevedon Agricultural & Pastoral Show
21st and 22nd of November, this year is a highly anticipated spring event in Clevedon, providing a fantastic jam-packed weekend of events for all. The Clevedon A & P Show dates all the way back to 1908 and was setup with the aim to promote farming and agriculture and all associated skills, crafts, trades and professions. Throughout the years the Show has

become a highly anticipated annual spring event in Clevedon, providing a fantastic opportunity for locals, families, friends and country enthusiasts to come together for a fun weekend. It might surprise you how much you can experience at the Show from interacting with farm animals up close, enjoying the food, wine & picnic atmosphere while watching the jam-packed entertainment in the main event ring, to browsing trade stalls and watching the competition for horses, sheep, dairy cattle and goats. There is something for everyone and it is a great family day out and opportunity to meet up with friends, get out of the city and soak up the rural atmosphere

Some special features of the Show are the farmyard where children (and adults!!) can be up close to smaller animals such as chicks, ducks, calves, lambs, kid goats, piglets and donkeys. Woodchopping, sheep racing, horse & cart rides, vintage machinery and Fire Brigade demonstrations are always fan favorites. Carlotta & the Spanish Dancing Horse will also be back along with the Auckland Strongman competition and FMX Bike shows plus lots lots more. You will not go hungry with the variety of food stalls to temp you and fun activities and rides for all ages along with all the animals we can muster. The Clevedon A & P Show embraces all things great about its agricultural and pastoral heritage and the features that keep our local countryside beautiful whilst providing ongoing support for local traders & small businesses. So come and join us in November on the 6th and 7th of November for 2 marvellous days of competition and entertainment for all ages.

Appealing for information about the Clevedon A & P Show ---- we have been researching our background and our history to date. There is very little in the way of photographs of past Shows perhaps because there were very few cameras round in the early years.......and any taken have not resurfaced from the attic they may have been stored in ?
If anyone does have scenes of past Shows ( and we are now 117 years old ) we would ask to borrow them, so we can copy them and use them in our archives.
There has never been a linear record of THE CLEVEDON A & P ASSOCIATION over it's many years, and we would like to start that process, or at least collect as much about it so that it can be started

Start now and you should just have enough time to grow them

Step-by-Step Guide
Put about 4 to 6 inches of your soil and compost mix at the bottom of the bucket.Place the seed potatoes: Lay 2 to 3 seed potatoes or cut seed potato pieces on top of the soil with their sprouts (eyes) pointing upward.Cover the potatoes: Add another 4 inches of soil over the seed potatoes and water the container thoroughly.Hill or fill as it grows: When green stems grow up about 3 to 4 inches tall, cover them gently with more soil, leaving the very top leaves exposed. Repeat this process until the soil reaches about an inch below the rim.Water and sunlight: Place the bucket in a spot that gets 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Keep the soil moist like a wrung-out sponge, watering deeply whenever the top inch feels dry.Harvest: After about 10 weeks, when the plant flowers and the foliage turns yellow and dies back, stop watering. Wait two weeks, then tip the bucket over onto a tarp to collect your potatoes.

We had a very successful start to our Potato Competition Saturday at Clevedon Clevedon Gourmet; Lots of interest. Also our Colouring Competetion Sponsored so generously by Conmara Estate, Clevedon. You can collect entry forms for the Potato Competition , the bags and a seed potato from Clevedon Gourmet. And at the same time you can collect a colouring-in form as well.
